If you search for a place the price/quality, City Guesthouse most that. The affable personnel, pure and comfortable rooms, cleaning of rooms the ideal. Thanks.
P.S. Thanks a lot to receptionist Ozcan ;)

Was fantastic place to stay where the staff went out of their way to accommodate my friends and I. The 24 hour reception is fantastic! The rooms are great quality and well furnished with air conditioning that worked very well.
The staff even took us out to have a true local (non-tourist) experience of Istanbul which was one of my highlights of my whole trip.
They are well priced and offer outstanding value!
There is however only one thing that I can say that could be improved, it is, that the place smelled of smoke when you are at the reception (the rooms do not have a smoke smell) but otherwise it was def very good value for money!
At the first sight, this guesthouse may be look like a bad choice, but it certainly is NOT!
Yes you might think that the location of the guesthouse is not direct in the centrum but 10 minutes of walking makes you to find yourself at the blue mosq. This sure is a good point to take a cab or travel with the subway to Eminonu. (3 mins subway)
So around 10-13 minutes you are at Eminönu, which is a central station. And comparing the prices of the different hotels, this 10-13 minutes are definitely worth it.
The room's are big en good, especially for a guesthouse. And trust me I know, I worked in many hotels in the Netherlands :)
The breakfasts are well prepared. Yes it is the same breakfast every morning, but there is plenty of choice to decide 'what to eat'. So if you circulate a bit, you won't eat the same things every single morning.
The personal who are working at the guesthouse are really friendly. They are prepared to help with any kind of things. By this you can think of; Not just how to go from A to B, but what is the fastest way, what is the cheapest way, which route is the best to see more of Istanbul etc.
Last but not least, many people has wrote about the train. Yes it is true that there is a rail near the Guesthouse, but be honest, when you are tired and you fall in sleep, you won't hear a thing! :D
So this guest house is a good choice comparing to the Quality(service) vs Price.
We booked this guest house 2 months prior to our travel. It is situated a bit on a back street and there is a railway just next to it behind the wall.
Upon arrival to the hotel we were told that the price has increased. I was trying to ask why could not they notify us by email, but his english was very poor and he was kinda arrogant. The smell at the reception was also not good at all. I went out and in 15 minutes found a better hotel with a better price and much nearer to Sultanahmet area and all attractions. The good part about small hotels in Istanbul that you can negotiate, especially if it is a low season. We were there in the beginning on November, so it was not so hard to find a hotel.
Though I have not seen the rooms of the Istanbul Guest House, I would not recommend this place. There are many better places around at better or the same rates.
Istanbul City Guest House is a small hotel just 5 minutes walking distance from the main attractions of Sultanahmet district. Blue Mosque, Aya Sofiya and Topkapi Palace are just a stone through away. In case you travel through plane you can take the Metro Train from the airport up to the last station Aksaray and from there it is a just 4-5 minutes drive by taksi. Not taking a Taksi from the Airport will for sure save a lot of money to you. The building in itself is very small and when you go there you feel a bit confused, they have a simple eating place in the ground floor with just two tables where you can have a lovely breakfast in the morning (please remember it is not a proper hotel is a guest house). Anyway when you enter inside the room it is completely another story. They have renovated the rooms recently and everything was new inside. Very comfortable beds, lighting was perfect as well as the size of the room. Believe me i have been in Istanbul many times and for the money you are paying the size of the room really matters. I have been in two three hotels where you were waking up in the middle of the night to open the windows cause you have difficulties breathing. The bathrooms are simple with all the neccessary facilities and very very clean. The guys working at the hotel Halil and Ozcan as well as the caretaker Esma were really lovely people and helpful all the way. They even send us to the Aksaray with their own car the last day which was quite surprising. I would strongly suggest people to try this guest house.
After staying 10 days in City Guesthouse Istanbul we can recommend this place warmly. It's
location is within walking distance from all the major tourist sites and the price is very affordable.
Even if its a low price hotel , it doesn't stand back for much higher priced hotels when it comes to service and standards. The hospitality of the staff is also excellent. Rooms cleaned every day
and they are very polite and friendly. We had a beautiful view from the balcony to the Marmara sea. We will definately use City guesthouse next time visiting Istanbul.
Thank you Ozcan,Halil and Esma for your hospitality and friendship during our stay :))
Warm regards from Sasha and Kjell
