The Over all experience was good. The hotel is extremely small, but rooms are relatively spacious. But with small bathroom for the double room. When we changed for the triple room, it had a wider bathroom.
The breakfast is limited but good for the start of the day, with a nice terrace view. Sultana the house keeping is very good & friendly. The reception are friendly but not always available. The rooms are very clean & tidy. And the linen & towels are clean.
The most important asset for this hotel is its location !! Near to all the attractions, even the tramway, if you want to go further. Aya Sophia, Blue Mosque, Top Kapi, & the basilica are all at walking distance, few minutes walk. Even the Grand Bazaar.
If you are looking for location & a clean but mediocre stay at Istanbul, then definitely go there.

Room Tip: Triple rooms have bigger bathrooms & better views.

The location of this small guest house has to be its prime attraction - in a small dead end lane behind Kucuk Aya Sofia (little Hagia Sophia). The Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Hippodrome, Underground Cistern, Arasta Bazaar all are within stones throw distance. From the third floor terrace, one gets a view a view of the domes and spires of the mosques as well as the blue waters of the Marmara Sea.

The Guesthouse has 9 rooms and we stayed in triple rooms for 5 nights. The triple rooms are actually the same size as the double rooms with an extra bed thrown in, which make the triple rooms quite cramped. A narrow spiral staircase leads from the reception to the three floors and the terrace above…can be a wee bit problem with heavy luggage. Breakfast is nice with a good spread. Being a small guesthouse, there’s not much professionalism around. The staff is quite helpful though.

We felt that the Guesthouse tariff was a bit steep considering the amenities provided, both quality and quantity. As a yardstick, one can actually get a decent room in the central locations of many European cities. There’s not much restaurants or food joints around unless one takes a walk towards or past the Blue Masque or Hagia Sophia. In fact we recommend travelers to check a few similar Guesthouses on Divan Yolu Caddesi along the tram tracks past the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sofia. Such locations would be close to the tourist attractions as well to souvenir shops and food joints

This is a nice place in a quiet corner of Sultanahmet, but just a few minutes walking away from all the main cultural visit-worthy places. The rooms are not big, but very clean with modern bathrooms. Breakfast at the top floor is in a bit cramped space, but if not all guests come at the same moment, that doesn't matter. The view is nice, overlooking a part of the Marmara Sea. As with all buildings around the Mediterranean, much of the interiors is decorated with tiles or marble. And that resonates the sounds, in this case as well in particular the talking in the reception area. On the first floor and in the basement rooms you will hear this clearly. So if you can get a room at the second or third floor, you'll hear less of this, but possibly more of the local train that passes by.

Room Tip: As with all buildings around the Mediterranean, much of the interiors is decorated with tiles or mar...

Clean rooms, excellent location and a good breakfast with a great view from the roof terrace.
The City Guest House has an excellent location for sightseeing, a couple of minutes walk from the major attractions of the old city.
The hotel organised a taxi for us from the airport and everything worked really smoothly. The room was clean and warm with a big double bed, and a clean, good power shower.
It was very reasonably priced and we were very pleased with our choice. The staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was filling. The roof terrace has an amazing sea view.
The only downer is the noise from the railway nearby over night, but this was minor. A well recommended place to stay.

Istanbul City Guesthouse was clean and comfortable. One could spend a lot more money for other hotels located in the same area, but as we were on somewhat of a budget, this was a good option. The breakfast buffet which was included in the price was good and very filling (selection of breads, jams, hard boiled eggs, halva, salami, olives, cheeses). The selection was exactly the same every single day, so if you stay here longer than one week you might become a little bored with it. (Hint: for a little variety, there is a bakery nearby that sells bourekas and baklava not be missed). Hot water for coffee or tea is available at all times. The view from the roof top is spectacular. We stayed in room # 201, the room was a little tight by American standards but adequate enough for two people, we had a queen and a twin bed in our room. We did experience one minor problem with the water from the shower stall which leaked onto the bathroom floor and completely soaked the towel provided to step on, but we were so busy sightseeing and had already settled into the room that we did not bother to complain about it. The staff was friendly. We'd made our reservation through booking.com, there were no issues with the reservation and we were charged the correct rate upon checkout (I did call before arriving just to make sure they had the reservation and they confirmed they had it). This guest house is near all the sights in Sultanahmet, we would stay here again if given the chance to return to Istanbul.

It was a very nice stay
1. Cosy, comfy and clean place for ppl with low budget .
2. Few minutes walking from the main historical attractions of Sultanahmet area and metro station.
3. Got a wonderful terrace with a very good sea view (first row).
4. Double Rooms are comfy but small bathroom, triple rooms was kinda Narrow but with a big bathroom!
5. Break fast was not bad.
6. The staff was so nice and helpful.
7. Wireless connection was OK.
The bad thing was that the stairs are very narrow and almost vertical so will be kinda hard for old ppl to stay there, except that almost every thing was perfect

Room Tip: room 202 :D
