At first arrival I was intrigued by the area in which this hotel is situated - it is VERY central to some of the primary tourist attractions, yet it seems to be very authentic and not as touristy as some of Istanbul's other areas. The room was good, perfect for our purpose (I travelled with my sister, and we spent only our sleeping time and of course morning-getting-ready-time in the hotel room). The fact that it took only 5 minutes to walk to the site of the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia/Ayasofya and Topkapi Palace made it even better.
We hardly spent any time on public transportation and in stead walked everywhere - to Grand Bazaar, Spice Market, Galata, Suleymaniye and so on.

The breakfast was very nice with a variety of bread, juices, tea, coffee, turkish delis and cereals.

Furthermore, the hotel is run by a handful of staff, who were very helpful (although some more than others). Roberto, who was there regularly, was one of the most charismatic persons we met during our stay. He was always in a great mood, happy, laughing, joking, yet always ready to give us some good recommendations of where to go. He definitely helped us determine some of our activities, and he even recommended some great local restaurants (our favourite was Siya Baba, situated just around the corner - amazing value for money, great, authentic Turkish food for almost nothing compared to Western standards, and not too touristy!)

All in all an amazing experience. I will definitely be coming back - Istanbul is an amazing city with so many new impressions every day!

I Stayed For A Week With My Husband. Roberto Was Very Helpful, Funny And Entertaining. It Felt Like We Was At Home. He Is Always Smiling And Greeted Us Everytime And Asked About Our Day. Through Out Our Stay In Istanbul.. Coming Back To The Hotel At The End Of The Night Was The Best Part.

Had the choice of 2 rooms on the ground floor, next to 'reception', one stank of stale cigarette smoke, so chose the other. The bathroom washbasin and cupboard were hanging off the wall, there was mold growing round the skirting board, the wardrobe shelf collapsed when putting a bag on it. There bed sheets didn't fit the bed and there was no mattress cover. The only natural light was from a window that had a wall about 18 inches in front of it - so hardly any light came in the room. The hotel is not in the best of locations, yes its not too far from some of the sights, but you have to climb a steep hill in a less than 'nice' area. They offered to get us another room the day after, but declined and went to another hotel as we couldn't even spend one night in that disgusting room.

If you are looking for good location in the center and also reasonable priced hotel, Sultan Sirma is that choice.
It is situated directly in Sultanahmed, about 10 minutes walk from Blue Mosque and Hagia Sofia, the same distance to Grand Bazar.
Stuff was friendly, rooms were small but with large bed and basic equipment. We have to say that everyhnig was fine, room and especially bathroom were clean. Only the one bug was no view from the window (there was some downcast). But understand why we got the chepeast room. We booked ,,Smart offer" from Booking, night per person with breakfast cost 12 EUR! And usually you spend most of the stay in the city, not in the room.
Breakfast was a suprise for us. There was an option to eat on the patio with view on the city. The continental breakfast consists from various plates of vegetable, chese, roll, bread, jams, honey, salami, cereals, juices, tea and coffee. Perfect start to new day :)
If you want to visit Istanbul for few days, I definitely recommend this hotel

I spent 5 nights in this hotel with my boyfriend and we had an amazing time! I work in the hospitality industry and I barely see around such good quality hotels at this price! Our room was very clean, the staff extremely friendly (Roberto the manager is a star!!), great location, quite and picturesque neighbourhood. I'll definitely come back next year and I'd strongly recommend it! Claudia

Room Tip: Avoid the rooms in the basement. Our room was on the 2nd floor and it was great.
