If you are going in for a short visit into Istanbul - 1-2 days, this hotel is a good option. Though it has its history of being an old building, the rooms are very tight for that fact, and becomes quite uncomfortable. The compromise is its location as many has commented it is walking distance to Blue Mosque and the grand bazaar and other attractions.

If you looking for a comfortable stay in a room after a hard days sight seeing, this may not be the best of choices. Again good location and for 1-2 days is bearable and recommendable. The front desk is friend and helpful.

I really enjoyed my stay here, mostly due to the amazing staff, especially Ahmad.
Pros: friendly and helpful staff, location near all touristic attractions, free WiFi, AC in room
Cons: no elevator, noisy birds outside, almost no headroom in the room.
Room size was small but enough for me.

Stayed: August 2014, travelled solo

This is the most adorable place we could have asked for. The hotel itself is 130 years old and even has the original doors. I've read people complaining about how small the rooms are - this is because this house is protected by the government and NO changes can be made. Enjoy the history - isn't that why you're in Istanbul? When we arrived, we had our choice of rooms (we had originally booked the one on the top floor but the manager noticed my boyfriend is quite tall so he showed us a different room). The bathroom was fully equipped and the bed was comfy. You cannot beat the location as you are only 100 meters walking distance from the Hagia Sophia. The staff was really accommodating and kind. Wifi worked fine and the TV had many channels. I would highly recommend this hotel for a weekend trip!

Le Safran Suite is a FANTASTIC little hotel for those on a budget. It is nearby to most of the attractions the Old City has to offer. And if its too far to walk or you just dont like walking the tram and the train is just a short walk away. The staff are fantastic and were very friendly and always helpful. Ahmad - the day concierge - is an absolute champion. He always made us feel at home and looked after us tremendously well. The ladies in the kitchen were also lovely. The laundry man even helped us fix a problem with one of our bikes by ducking home and returning with some spare parts and an angle grinder. We were amazed at his generosity. A GREAT LOW BUDGET OPTION FOR THOSE WANTING TO EXPLORE ALL INSTANBUL (especially the OLD CİTY) HAS TO OFFER.

Thanks for everthing!! - Adam Nick & Fİona - the Adventure Cyclists
