New chefs of Istanbul need some help. Overall good try, but just average compared to the rest of the competition in the city. Good pricing however

Stayed in Istanbul most of January, and this was my favorite neighborhood restaurants. Great value -- nothing on the lunch menu over 10 dollars, and only a few dinner items more than that. They offer a monthly menu based on what's in the market, with interesting daily specials as well. As it was winter, had some lovely duck dishes, celeriac mash, borscht, lamb with quince, and a melt-in-your mouth filet cooked to perfection. Ask the waitstaff for recommendations of Turkish wine (available by the glass). Very friendly staff, and very popular at lunchtime with young professional Turks. If you're visiting the Pera Museum, it's a perfect place to go for lunch.

Not a kebap house! This place does modern food (Turkish meets new european) in a setting that could be New York or London.

Four of ate here, two had the tasting menu which was 100 TL (that's 50 USD/ 30 GBP) - 6 courses plus wine and tea or coffee. On the high side for Istanbul, but still a bargain. The tasting menu plates were small for a Turkish place, but the regular entrees were the usual large size. Everything was delicious. Service was good. It made for a lovely evening out.

We stumbled over this on our first night in Istanbul having absolutely no idea where to eat and were very lucky to do so. We had an inkling it might be good, as it was full of people who gave the impression of having been there before and they seemed to know the staff. It was what we would describe as `fine dining` in the UK, but without the hefty price tag. Yes it is a little bit more expensive than the tourist places round the corner, but if you want to have something a little more appealing than kebabs then spend the extra couple of pounds. The service was attentive and as well as being delicious the food was very well-presented. Highly recommended!
