“Excellent choice for active travelers”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 July 2013

The manager Ali was very helpful, although he sometimes didn't respond very quickly to e-mails. But his English was good, so that we were able to donfirm arrangements with him fairly easily by phone. Luckily I'd downloaded Skype onto my iPhone before leaving the US, so I called him cheaply when on wifi.

The location is excellent, near the main old city sites like Hagghia Sophia, Topkapi, and the Blue Mosque, but in a Turkish, residential area so one felt part of the real life of the city. The one caveat is that you have to be in good physical condition to enjoy the location as it is far from public transportation and the walk to the tram is up very steep hill.

There is a nice park, vegetable stands, small grocery shops, and a supermarket a few steps away.

We had two apartments during our 1 week stay.

The first was in the basement. Incredibly spacious with a large living room and kitchen and a separate bedroom and access to a very tiny garden area. The drawback was that it was a bit dark, with only small windows on the street. Because it was July, the coolness of the basement wasn't a problem, but in cooler times of year it might be a bit dank.

The second, where we stayed for most of our trip, was 201 on the first floor. The living room/kitchen were smaller than the basement space, but the long expanse of sunny windows and light made up for that. The bedroom also had windows on two sides. Air conditioning worked perfectly. The refrigerator was huge, and the cooking facilities very good, including a dishwasher. We had several dinners at home and really enjoyed the dishwasher, etc.

Breakfast was left on a tray outside the door by 8 am, and it was fine--hard boiled egg, bread, olives, meat, and pastry. We supplemented it with fruit--available very cheaply from nearby stands--and yogurt.

My one criticism is that the bed was made with only 1 sheet which didn't completely fit the bed. I tried to ask for a second (top) sheet, but even though the maid tried to be helpful I was never able to get one. Another is that the TV in basement didn't work at all, and the one on the first floor had only Turkish channels--not very useful for international travelers. We would have loved an English-language channel like BBC or CNN, although we wasted much less time as a result. Wifi was stronger in basement than on 1st floor.

After reading reviews we expected to hear a lot of noise, but the place was surprisingly quiet.

Room Tip: Basement apt is large, but a bit dank and dark.

Everything about our stay was wonderful. We have high expectations, but we were delightfully surprised that the service over-delivered on our expectations. Every single minute detail was stupendous. The frot desk to the housekeeping and turndown service - all were phenomenal! We need to go back!

Realy nice place with good location and friendly staff! It is near to the main turistic points. The hotel is located on a nice wood building and the staff is extremely attentive about the guests needs!

Our first visit to Istanbul, stayed here for five nights. Location is about 15 minutes walk up steep hill to Blue Mosque and the other major attractions. Small park with fountains right across the street. Very comfortable sitting room/kitchen and separate bedroom. Has TV and dishwasher (we never used it.) Very clean, maid service daily. Good wi-fi connection. We did not experience noise other posters complained of. Street noise usually gone by 10 pm. Ali, the manager is extremely helpful. When I mislaid my folder of travel documents for a month-long vacation, he immediately offered me the use of his computer, printer and phone. He also gave us very useful tips on getting around the city on public transport. Highly recommend this place, good value.

Room Tip: We had room 201 on main floor, so no steep, curving stairs to climb with luggage.

Stayed here for 3 nights in march.
Did not arrive till about midnight, but was greeted by Ali (owner) outside as soon as we got out the taxi.
He tben carried in our luggage and gave us a very warm welcome.
I can honestly say that nothing seemed to be to much trouble for him.
We stayed in a luxury suite, and it was really an apartment complete with a hob and fullsize fridge freezer.
The room was what i would describe as modern ottoman.
Due to tbis being a renovated old building, the floors do creak a bit and if you have somebody in the room above you who is inconsiderate and does not remove there shoes, you will hear them walking about, although there is a note in each room explaining this to guests, and asking them to be considerate.
Our room was also slightly unlevel due to it being an old building, so often we would shut a drawer, only to find it open itzelf in the next few minutes.
We thought this only added to the charm of the place.
Thebuilding is very well situated for access to most of the tourist attractions, and also very wel situated for cheap food. Tbere is also a small supermarket and a shop within 5 minutes walk.
We found it to be in e very turkish part of istanbul and tbis made our stay much more enjoyable.
The breakfast supplied by the hotel is a very basic, typical turkish affair of cold meats, cheese, egg, bread and jams, but is suffice to start you off for the day.
The only thing i would warn anyone about stopping here is that it is not by a metro stop. And a lot of the attractions although notvthat far away, are normally uphill, and i mean up very steep hill. Tbis is not a problem if you use a taxi to get around ( yellow taxi rank 5min walk away, ask Ali) but if you are watching your pennies and have reduced mobility it could be a problem.
All in all tbough a great place to stop.
Btw, if you need any more info, i am haopy to be contacted as i wantother people to enjoy there stay asmuch as myself and my wife did.

I booked this apartments for my family Istanbul trip. We stayed for two days from 3 till 5 of March.

At first, I was impressed by other recommendations at several websites, and all about the hotel is true.

Mr. Ali is very welcoming and open to your requests and regards, and staff is very welcoming and friendly too.

Location is convenient, nearby you can find local shops with good prices, taxi stand and nice Kadirga park. Also you can get to main sights in Sultanahmet within 10-15 minutes.

Also we enjoyed walking along esplanade, you can get to it in 5 minutes.

What about the hotel and room. It's really interesting wooden building with its own history. There was good renovation, so interior looks nice, in spite of the fact it is not in my style, but it's nice. There was all modern convenience, good kitchen equipment, all what we needed. Breakfast was standard, many people are complaining about breakfast at Turkish hotels, but as for me it's ok. Little inconvenience was with a hot water, sometimes it wasn't hot enough, but it is not a big problem, I think.

The most I liked is Kadirga park nearby, cause we was with our little son.
The biggest disappointment was the fact I have been staying only for two days.

Room Tip: Pay your attention that building is wooden consequently there is no good sound isolation. We were li...

I recently stayed here for 2 weeks with my partner. The Apartment was a bit hard to find in a taxi as the name is not well shown however just make sure you have the address on you for arrival.

When we arrived we were greeted and show to our apartment. My first impression was good, Exactly what the pictures shown me on booking.com.
The living area was large with kitchenette with all appliances however could of done with an extra few pans for cooking, We asked the owner and it was no problem for them to get for us.

Bathroom was spacious with a really powerful shower which i like plus had a hot rail to dry towels.
Bedroom was comfortable with a decent size bed and reasonable size wardrobes and drawers for what we needed.

The maid came each day and cleaned our apartment. Gave us fresh towels and topped up our extra supplements such as tea coffee etc which was included in the room.

Breakfast was provided everyday and was lovely.

The location of the hotel was fine, however did find it was in an area where if you don't know Istanbul you could easily get lost. Thank goodness for my partner he new where to go.
To get to sultanahmet main street where Hagia Sofia is was a bit of a climb. There was a few steep hills. Afterwards it was flat and easy access to where ever you planned going. Definitely not suitable for wheel chair users though.

Apart from the slight climbing the apartments was very comfortable and good value.
