The rooms are lovely and the beds are very comfortable. The breakfast selection is fantastic and worth waking up for! The service was fantastic in all areas of the hotel and I found everyone extremely friendly. All in all it was a great stay - my only complaint would be the lack of free WiFi.

My wife, daughter and I spent the last two nights of a two week Turkish vacation at this hotel. The hotel itself is a marvel of technology and modernity: smoked glass and chrome in a many-storied structure on a hill in a modern and very wealthy section of Istanbul called Etiler, far from the tourist sites of Sultanahment. If Le Meridian sometimes seems to try too hard to be "cool and modern" ("curated" Muzak described by a plaque in the elevator!), it still provides a lovely and luxurious experience.
The hotel is luxurious, with two pools (one indoor and one out), fabulous views of the Bosporus from our room on the 19th floor, and a lovely but small executive lounge (where a light breakfast is served in the morning and fruit and snacks throughout the day). Service was flawless, and my wife was very pleased with the onsite hair salon.
On the downside, the hotel is a guarded fortress (perhaps as a result of the politicians, wealthy individuals and corporate executives who seem to frequent it), with metal detectors and nowhere to walk--the local hotspots which were very Euroamerican (Starbucks, sushi, American style steak houses, and a large glitzy mall) were at least a mile away. The prices in the hotel restaurant were those one might find in NY, a problem since there was little in the way of alternatives.
Finally, the hotel is far from the center of town, and about as far from the international airport as it is possible to get in Istanbul, especially given the constant heavy traffic on Istanbul's highways. Though we had left ourselves three hours to get the the airport, we barely made our flight home, and would not have made it but for some daredevil driving by our cab driver.

Dear AmonkFrogBear,

Sunny greetings from Istanbul!

We were delighted to read your detailed feedback on your two week experience with us. Your comments regarding our team members, services and Club Lounge are very much appreciated by all of us.

Our state-of-the-art property, as you have also kindly mentioned, is built midst the city’s popular residential, shopping, business and entertainment destinations. Its close proximity to the Fatih Sultan Mehmet bridge connecting the two continents and to the main international highway provides our guests with an easy access to both international airports located at the European and Asian sides. The ever popular ‘golden mile’ alongside the beautiful Bosphorus is another gem nearby our hotel.

In a city where traffic is always a major issue, Le Méridien Istanbul Etiler stands out as a delightful escape and an exciting new destination for visitors seeking to explore the many diverse aspects of our truly inspiring city.

Thank you very much for your kind review. We look forward to hosting you and your family again in the very near future.

Kindest regards,

Elif Aydınlıgil

I've had wonderful experiences with Istanbul hotels since my first visit about 25 years ago. There are some truly amazing options and I had no reason to break from habit. However, I am a devoted SPG member for my business travel, had points aplenty, and opted to cash in a few on this visit. The Meridien seemed the most intriguing SPG option in the city and the tripadvisor reviews were positive. I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We found ourselves on the 18th floor with a fantastic view of the water. Decor throughout the hotel is modern and demonstrates careful attention to detail. Why can't we have nice things (i.e., some of the same nice things) out here in western Canada? I don't get the repetitive cloud pictures, but the nifty elevators cancel out that criticism. The club lounge is particularly attractive, offering a varied (and healthy) selection of foods and beverages. Relaxing on the balcony adds to the experience. The staff couldn't have been more cordial or helpful. I definitely will book at the Meriden on my next trip to Istanbul - whether or not I'm cashing in points for the stay.

I LOVE the beds in this hotel. They are extremely comfortable and have made this hotel one of my favorites in the world.
Rooms are spacious and elegantly styled. The hotel has great eye for detail. Cleaning is always done by a very high standard.
You simply cannot visit this hotel without going for a drink at the rooftop bar. The view over the city is stunning and watching the city rage on while relaxing on the outside terrace gives a perfect tranquil feeling.
Breakfast buffet is smaller than you'd expect for the size of the hotel but the variety is still good and the quality of food is excellent.
Also - you MUST try the mojito dessert at the La Torre Restaurant! It's amazing.

The location is more suited towards specific destinations as it is not in a very touristic area and given the room cost I find the cost of wifi to be a bit steep. That aside though, I cannot think of a single bad thing to say about this hotel.
