We decided to take a trip to Istanbul this October and stayed at this hotel, based on many great reviews. The hotel is perfectly and conveniently located, the rooms are very comfortable ( a bit small though) , each room has its own refrigerator with a supply of reasonably priced water and soft drinks. It is an easy walk up to historical attractions. The buffet breakfast was full of Turkish traditional jams (which I liked the most) and there is a lot of variety in it.
There are several nice restaurants within a few minutes walk from the hotel. We particulary liked Karina Fish House and Doy-Doy restaurant.
I truly cannot say enough about the hospitality and knowledge of all staff members. There was nothing that the staff couldn’t arrange or provide for the guests, regardless of the time.
After check-in, the receptionist Erhan spent 15-20 minutes with us giving us useful information about the city (in company with Turkish coffee) Besides, he made several calls to restaurants to make reservations and change reservation times, most importantly, he did even bargain with taxi driver about the cab fare for us.
I very much recommend this hotel for all the above reasons.
Remember ear-plugs for the mosque speakers

We had a fantastic holiday at the Sultans Royal Hotel in October 2012. This beautiful small boutique hotel is at the heart of Sultan Ahmet and it is very close to the main attractions such as Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, Grand Bazaar and Hagia Sophia (just 5 minutes of walking range).
The hotel is very clean, the rooms are nicely furnished and well appointed, and the breakfast is fabulous (open buffet and lots of choices).
The staff is splendid, all of them were so friendly and warm-hearted. In particular, Erhan was so helpful about how to spend our time wisely and efficiently during our stay (giving the required information regarding restaurants, main attractions and etc…)
As guests who found this hotel accidentally after an extremely bad experience at another hotel in İstanbul, we have to admit that we did enjoy every minute of our stay. Everything about this hotel was first class, from the moment we arrived to the moment we left.
To sum up, I strongly recommend this hotel to everyone for a perfect stay. The reviews are totally true and if we ever return to Istanbul, we wouldn’t consider staying anywhere else.

Absolutely great place in the fantastic location just behind the Blue mosque, with kindest and most wellcoming staff at an reasonable price.
Would go there again, no need to look any further when in town...

The location can't be beaten, very easy to get to the main sites.

Very helpful and friendly staff, though the postcards they said they'd mail for us have still not arrived four weeks later.

Recently refurbished room, small but adequate with kettle and teas/coffees. Comfortable bed but for some reason I did not sleep well here, husband slept fine.

Breakfast buffet quite varied but not vast: meats and savouries, breads, jams, one or two hot dishes, poor coffee. Laid out in a bright basement room lacking any kind of view.

I travel quite a lot (business) and this hotel would rank as one of the nicest I have stayed in. Not without its faults but certainly one of the friendliest. Nothing was too much of a problem for the staff and that alone ranks real praise. They could not have been more helpful.

Rooms are spotless, maybe a touch on the small side but I don't need that much space. Very nice bathroom -- again spotless. Bed was comfortable and I slept well.

If you are not planning on joining the morning prayer, do remember not to leave your window open at night. The Muezzin is not mucking about. It is very romantic the first time you hear him ... The first time.

The location is great for tourists but not if you have business in the city (a mistake I made -- but that was my fault, not the hotels). You can walk to loads of the main places, or just get lost in the streets. Certainly feels safe.

Breakfast was good.

Overall a really friendly, charming, clean and well-located hotel. Would certainly recommend it to anyone on holiday, maybe not for business travelers unless you need to be on the European side of the river.
