“Pleasant surprise”
Reviewed 1 July 2014

My cousin and I spent four nights at this small and delightful hotel, situated on a quiet street about 5 minutes walk (uphill) to the Blue Mosque, hippodrome, Aya Sofia, and a 15-20 minute walk to Topkapi Palace, and other attractions. It is also quite close to the tramway line. The room was soundproof, comfortable and very clean. The staff was helpful with providing directions on how to use public transit, arranging Wi-Fi (available most of the time) and with good advice for restaurants nearby. Breakfast was very good -- particularly enjoyed the Turkish offerings, although would have liked to have more fresh fruit. Turkish coffee was readily provided at our request instead of the usual filter or instant variety at the breakfast buffet. Would definitely return to this hotel at a future visit to Istanbul.

I was really surprised by my stay at the Sultans. The rooms were rather small but really, really clean. Seeing as how one probably isn't in Istanbul to sit in a hotel room the size really didn't matter for me. The staff was EXTREMELY helpful and kind. They went out of their way to help make my stay pleasant. I can't underscore the staff's helpfulness enough. Nice breakfast. GREAT location with just a pleasant 5 minute walk through a bizarre to the Blue Mosque. I would stay there again without hesitation.

Our whole experience was delightful. The staff were attentive and welcoming. And when we wanted to post a purchase home, they advised the Post Office rather than the expensive DHL/UPS alternative.
The hotel is ideally situated for sightseeing with plenty of restaurants to choose from in the area.
Comfy beds, lovely balcony and delicious, fresh breakfast.

Room Tip: The top floor suites with balcony are excellent. In fact all rooms are comfortable and well-appointe...

We just returned home from a 3-night stay at this hotel. We are a family of four, kids ages 9 and 5. This hotel was the perfect choice for us, and the hospitality of everyone at the hotel was wonderful.

We had the ingenious family arrangement - two rooms at the end of the hallway with another locking door in the hallway which essentially creates a large suite. It was a great amount of space for the 4 of us; much more than I would have expected for such a close-in hotel. Location is excellent. We found Istanbul to be a tough city with young kids, but the hotel is in easy walking distance to many sights and restaurants, which was a big help for 5-year-old legs.

Breakfast was tasty and held in a lovely room in a lower level. Staff was constantly cleaning dishes and replenishing the food. There were always plenty of empty tables.

We had a late flight out, and the manager generously arranged for us to stay in one of our rooms which didn't have a booking. At every turn we found all of the staff to be friendly and helpful.

We hope to return to Istanbul, and we will stay again at the Sultans Royal without hesitation.

Located 500m from the Blue Mosque in old town, this small boutique hotel has great accommodation, friendly and efficient english speaking staff, a spacious bedroom and modern bathroom. the breakfast room and breakfast is really excellent offering a wide range of food.
We took several tours, Gallipoli, Boat trip on the Bosporus, & various Mosques, the Grand Bazaar and Turkish Baths. we had a private guide for half a day also. he was excellent. Everyone recommended was first class as were the restaurants the managers recommended. All in all a great stay at amazing low prices.

Just back from a holiday trip in Istanbul. My family and I stayed at this hotel for 5 days. Both rooms we stayed in were clean and staff was very helpful. As the hotel is situated at the sultanamet area, all the attractions are within walking distance, such as the blue mosque, hippodrome and basilica cistern.
The hotel manager, Mr Murak and his staff were very helpful and provided us with useful information during our stay.
As we were also going to Cappadocia in the middle of our holiday trip, the hotel even allowed us to keep some of our luggages at the hotel, so that was very much appreciated.
The breakfast room was small and cosy at the basement. The breakfast was substantial and sufficient.
Good location and staff were helpful. Will definitely return to stay in this hotel, when back to Istanbul.
