I recently visited Istanbul and stayed at this hotel for a quick layover. As a solo female traveler, I was concerned about arriving at 10pm at night so I arranged a private airport transfer through the hotel. When I got into the car, 2 additional FRIENDS of the driver also got into the car, not other travelers like myself. I did not really have the opportunity to object and at that point was scared. Half way through the ride, the driver told me we were to stop at his friends house first to drop them off and after MULTIPLE objections, he stopped in the middle of the road and let his friends off and started to apologize to me. I just wanted to get to the hotel ASAP without any further incident. On arrival at the hotel, I felt that the staff was unapologetic. It is a small boutique hotel which normally would be ok with me, but rather than being charming, it felt more intrusive and cold. The next day, the manager also was cold and unprofessional and told me he would charge me for half the price of the ride, which I then refused to pay any of it. The 25 minute ride from the airport felt like eternity and I was very concerned for my safety. If the hotel is arranging transportation, then they should have some responsibility for the actions of the company they utilize. Furthermore, the degree of unprofessionalism and courtesy that the staff had exhibited during my stay and with knowledge of this incident was egregious.
The view from the rooftop is nice but there are other hotels with the same view.
Location is good, however the tram system is so good that coming into the Old City from any location along the blue line is very convenient.

It is situated in a very convenient area. The Sofia Agia Mosque, Blue Mosque, Underground Cistern, and Topkapi Palace are all within walking distance. Plenty of eateries all around. I was there during Ramazan so the whole area was alive at night.Just a stroll at any time of day or night is exciting.
The rooms are small but adequate for a tourist as you only return to sleep. Bathrooms are compact and well stocked. When you enter the walkways there is sometimes an unpleasant odour. Higher rooms are better and away from the street noise.
No warm breakfast but plenty of fruits, nuts bread and eggs with spices. Top floor location of the breakfast area has a nice view of the city and MarMari sea. However it is on the east side and therefore the sun is direct in your eyes in the morning.

Room Tip: Higher floors have less street noise.

This hotel is really well located. It is near the Blue Mosque and Saint Sophie church. The bedroom was small but nice and clean. The view on the roof terrace was amazing. Staff was really kind, but didn't speak or understand english really well. The breakfast was ok, buffet style.

Walking distance to tourist attraction - Grand Bazaar, Blue Mosque, Aya Sophia, Tokapi Palace and Basilica cistern. However, if you are lazy to walk, you can always take the tram, which is also walking distance. A lot of nice restaurant, authentice turkish food, nearby this hotel.
Room is average. Our room is small as we are paying for the lowest rate. However, enough to fit two adults but not much of a walking area. Besides that, the lift takes forever.. if you are staying on the lower floors, then you will have to walk all the way up to the rooftop for breakfast. If you are staying on the upper floor, you just have to walk all the way down... Or you can wait for the lift, which takes maybe 10-15mins. Small lift and sometimes it is overload.
Hotel staff is average.. Most of the time they are just sitting there, more like a guard than a receptionist.

It was really hard to pick a good hotel in Istanbul, since there are so many to choose from and once you start reading reviews on Tripadvisor it is even harder to decide. Our stay at Burckin was great. The location is excellent, literally 1 minute from the Sultanahmet tram station which makes it very easy to access the hotel from the Ataturk airport. The hotel offers and excellent view of Agia Sofia and the Blue mosque. Topkapi palace is 3 minutes away. The staff is super friendly. Rooms are of decent size, very nicely furnished. The top floor offers rooms with balconies. There is free WiFI all over the hotel and in the rooms as well. The breakfast/restaurant area is on the roof with a truly breath taking view of Agia Sofia and the Blue mosque. Breakfast offers a nice variety of continental-style breakfast essentials, but the emphasis is on Turkish dishes which are very well prepared. ILKE, the waitor is especially friendly. All in all, I would highly recommend this hotel for business and personal travel, especially for couples or singles. Maybe it is not adequate for very young children, but for children above the age of 6-7 years it should be fine. I highly recommend this hotel, since it offers a good quality-for-value choice.

Room Tip: I suggest you choose a room on the top floors. The rooms on the 6th floor also come with a balcony.
