“simple hotel, great location, good price”
Reviewed 27 May 2014 via mobile

This hotel is actually called As Hotel (as named outside the hotel itself). It is small. Accommodations are very basic (feels a bit like a youth hostel), but the location is wonderful for all who want to be at walking distance from the main sights in the old and new istanbul. This hotel is in the new part of istanbul. Within 20 mins walking one reaches the Galata Tower. Taksim Square is but 3 mins away. Walking to the Galata bridge, to the spice and Grand Bazars, to the Blue Mosque and beyond is all possible, enjoyable even (takes a good hour if not stopping but great to do several stops along the way to have food, tea, shop...).Public transportation is very easy to hop on and off of. Istiklal Caddesi, the main street from which this hotel is off shooting from, is an experience within itself. Only 2 mins walk from the hotel with everything and anything you can think of shopping for or eating.

A big warning, however: this place is loud! Regardless what day of the week you visit and stay at the hotel, it sounds and feels like you are outside. Not optimal if you visit with children. For me and my partner it was no problem. By the time we made it back each day we were beat from the walking so nothing would have kept us up.

Staff are really nice, although only one or two speak English. Hasan, the assistant manager, speaks perfect English and is a perfect host. Ask for him if you need any support or write him an email at the hotel email address.

All in all, I suggest this hotel. At 60 euros a night for two with breakfast (although simple) included, we would definitely come back again.

Very close to Taksim Square. 100's of bars and restaurants nearby, The staff were excellent with good english, the rooms, although tiny are comfortable. We stayed stayed one night on a Saturday night, it was rather noisy but i'm guessing everywhere was. Good value for money. The one negative is the group sitting in the reception area smoking, this was rather off putting, the smell of smoke lingers throughout the hotel.

this hotel was the worst. the room was the only thing ok. the bathroom was dirty and old, with the stuff broken. the people don't know English. they cannot explain anything. the breakfast is unbearable, horrible coffee. they all smoke in the tiny lobby and the dirt smell is all around the hotel. I wouldn't recommend the hotel to anyone. not good at all. never would come back. DO NOT STAY HERE

We picked this hotel based on price and location. It doesn't disappoint. It's very close to Istiklal. And not too far to walk to the old city (if you're young). Although our room was small, and smelled like smoke (ick!), it was fine for 2 days.

Hasan, the evening front desk staff, was incredibly helpful! He gave us maps, helped us get an istanbul kart (for trains), and also helped us negotiate local buses for a city an hour away. Great customer service. He went the extra mile for us! (And he was the only one in the hotel who spoke English.)

The hotel was apparently some type of school dormitory at one time and was fully renovated. Rooms were simple and tidy and the customer service was decent. The breakfast was simple but adequate. The best part was that it is in a quiet location of Istiklal street and only 5 minutes from the Taksim square. Rooms were serviced daily and kept clean. Beds weren't that great.

Room Tip: 606 is a nice single room with a good view

room location price Room rate is very cheap. It's good for backpacker who only need room for sleep. The Hotel located near the istiklal street. The lifts are available all day. Suitable for backpackers or few budget.
