Arrived at the Hotel Friday 2nd May for 4nts for the Bank Holiday weekend.
On arrival we were told by the Manager that no room was available for our first night as the hotel had overbooked and that this was "usual" for Istanbul.
We were taken to a room in a nearby hotel where I can honestly say I have larger cupboards at home ( and don't live in a large house!!) It was pretty grim and there was no way we were going to spend the evening there especially as we were celebrating our wedding anniversary.
The manager was in no way apologetic for the stress it caused us and we ended up spending our first night in an apartment he owned opposite the Mari Time.
This wasn't brilliant either as someone had been living in it but had been asked to leave to accommodate us. Not great considering this trip had been booked nearly a year in advance.
We later found out that this had happened to another couple and their first night's accommodation sounded even worse than ours !!
The location of the hotel is brilliant for the old town of Istanbul -walking distance to Blue Mosque,Topkapi Palace and Hagia Sophia.
The rooms are small but were fine for a short stay and surprisingly quiet being so close to the Mosques.
The staff on the Reception were absolutely lovely and really helpful and knowledgeable. I think they were maybe a bit embarrassed about the over booking situation.
Breakfast wasn't anything to get excited about. Very basic with coffee not being re-filled unless asked for. A toaster would have definitely been a plus factor. Very limited choice- with olives and carrots on the menu.
Unusually large chairs in a very small dining area made it difficult to actually get to any of the food items.
Could definitely recommend the location and room was fine for a three star - would I stay again if returning to Istanbul probably not.
