“People watching”
Reviewed 4 June 2014

Eminonu Square is a great place for people watching. All sorts of nationalities pass through in various states of dress and almost undress!! Goodness knows what the Turkish ladies think.
I was there (again)in the earlier part of the year, when canvassing for the Elections were going on.The various political stalls were giving out freebies such as nice canvas bags and various political "pins" of which I got a few.It was a job fighting through to the stalls though.Music was blaring, horns being hooted,it was chaos but great fun.
There is a constant stream of people passing through the underpass, rushing who knows where. There are hot chestnuts being sold on carts, sweet corn and drinks.
I always get a kebab from the vendor facing the sea, where the cheese market bit starts- always good.
There are traffic jams, sirens, boats, people dodging death trying to cross the road, the trams, walking vendors selling dodgy perfume and cigarettes, everything you could wish for in fact.
Next time you are passing through, take time to sit and relax, watch the people, join in the fun,That's what Istanbul is all about,a truly amazing city anytime of the year.

“Chaotic but a vibrant square to visit...”
Reviewed 19 May 2014

It is the square in the heart of the city Istanbul, can be reached by train, boat and foot...You should try Turkish Coffee at a cafe, do shopping from private owned shops (with bargain of course). visit the mosque, buy spices from the market...You might get tired due to people' s traffic after a couple of hours, don't worry, get some rest at a cafe and try apple tea...You will never regret..

“Very good tourist spot”
Reviewed 18 May 2014

This is one of the most crowded place for tourists in European side where you can see thousands of people gathering to start with their tours to many different parts of İstanbul. This is the starting points by boats&ships to Beşiktaş,Üsküdar,Kadıköy,Bosphorus and Princess İslands.Pls have some time for Eminönü and explore it.Recommended.
