The others said it all: a very nice and individual hotel, momentary "hot spot" of the young and stylisch Istanbul crowd. A wardrobe in the room and a bathroom more "closable" would be nice but apart from that, my husband and I would fully recommend it. Very positive: complementary coffee in the room and breakfast all day! Sometimes there is a little problem with the drain...it stinks then...but we were directly given another/better room. Very friendly staff.

We had an amazing experience staying in this small botique hotel. The best part is the roof top terrace, overlooking the entire city and all it's attractions. The staff was fantastic, helpfull and very friendly, top service, especially Emrah will help you with all your reservations. They all speak English very well, the rooms are beautiful, best is to have the ones on the higher levels! Beautifully furnished and clean! You have to go!

The Georges is just down a narrow street from the Galata tower so easy walking distance from the bars and restaurants of Beyoglu and not far from the tram that will take you over the Galata bridge to the main attractions of Istanbul.
Rooms at the back of the hotel, at least from the third floor up, have stunning views of the Bosphorus and across the Golden Horn to the Topkapi Palace etc. Ours was spacious with a large balcony and, bevause it was in Galata rather than Beyoglu itself, quiet at night.
The restaurant on the top floor also has magnificuent views and is also a great place to watch the sun go down with a drink.
Staff were very friendly but not particularly efficient (for example telling us, incorrectly, that a restaurant we wanted to eat at was closed/not taking telephone bookings.)

Room Tip: The hotel is soo cool that it doesn't have a sign outside saying that it is a hotel, so beware...

We came with my family with great expectations for this hotel. As a Gold member of Explendia and as other reviews. However, I was quite disappointed. To the point that when I came back to Istanbul at my return from traveling the countryside I decided to go to a different hotel.

The positive:
1. The room is very nicely design. Bed was comfortable, Bathroom design nice.
2. The view of the restaurant is amazing. Really worth seen and having breakfast there.
3. The personnel: They are very kind, honest, helpful, eager to help but with not much room to maneuver because owner seems to be micromanaging everything.
4. Location: At the center of the old town in the golden horn. Close to but not in the tourist area so can offer a quite sleep.
5. Surrounded by a nice neighbors.

Negative: This was quite surprising for me. Particularly that this hotel is rated 5 stars. not even close.
1. Poor hotel management. We faced a problem int the bathroom and water started to leak from the ruff. We understand that accidents can happen. So, when we requested the hostess at the hotel to do something, he could do nothing because it was at night, wow 5 stars hotel!. We have to do everything in my parents bathroom and so we went to "sleep" with the sound of drops falling that went with time faster than just drops. In the morning we faced a bathroom flooded and again go to a different room to shower etc. They did not even offer a different room for the night. The damage was fix correctly that morning. But to our surprise, at night this happen again, a change of room was requested but the poor hostess could do nothing because "I have not power to do so and needs approval from the owner. This speaks very poorly of the owner management capacity (micromanager) and by far reduces the category of the hotel.

This factor was so important that at our return from traveling from the country side, we decided to change to a different hotel and stay at the Swissotel in Istanbul. What a difference!!!

2. PLEASE READ THIS VERY CAREFULLY. If you are traveling with elderly, people with mobility limitations or kids, I would suggest you stay elsewhere. The hotel is in the middle of a hill, so very often you will see your self going up on a steep walk. My mother who was 75 had a hard time doing it. And sometimes in the evening is hard to get a taxi. So nothing else to do but walk.

3. The hotel does not have a reception. The reception is a bar. Which from the 6 days I stay never so anybody besides the employees sitting in there, so is a waist of space. The "receptionist or barman or whatever you can define it" has to maneuver using different chairs or the bar table to have you sign papers. Very uncomfortable and not functional at all. I love boutique hotels but the priority is making feel the guest comfortable and these does not achieve this goal whatsoever.

3. Food. Menu is limited. But food is good.

4. The hotel does not have the name outside. So If you do not have a good memory, boy you will be looking around for a while because this are very narrow streets and you can loose orientation easily.

In conclusion I will go back to Istanbul next year. But I will not stay in this hotel.

Dear LEON-ATLANTA,
First of all, thank you very much for your feedback.
After carefully reading your comment and checking the facts with all our departments, we wanted to let you know that when you stayed with us in July and this unfortunate incident happened, we were fully booked and could not offer you any other room and called our technical service immediately to solve the problem. It seems that a few days later you travelled to the city of Izmir, which is the 3rd biggest city in the country and is actually not on the countryside but on the coastline.
In regards to the hills of Istanbul, I am afraid to tell you that Istanbul is known as “The City on the 7 hills” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seven_hills_of_Istanbul). A few 5 minutes’ walk from the hotel you can find:
- Sishane metro station which goes to Istanbul’s city centre (Taksim Square)
- Tünel Funicular Station where the tram will take you directly to the old city
- Galata taxi station. However, our concierge and reception staff is calling them and in less than 3 minutes they are sending a taxi.
Regarding the reception, the concept of Georges is personalized service therefore every check-in is done in the guest’s room. All other issues and questions are attended by our concierge in the lobby bar while inviting the guest to a fresh made typical Turkish tea or coffee. The reason why the name is not on the door is to keep Georges anonymity and make the guests feel at home.
And last, in regards to our renown Le Fumoir Restaurant, we just wanted to let you know that is has been recognized by numerous international food critics as the only authentic French Restaurant in Istanbul and one of the best in city. All our guests are enjoying a free a la carte breakfast served either in their room, in Le Fumoir Restaurant or in the roof top terrace. We are serving: French wines and champagnes, cocktails and most of the traditional French delicacies like: Foie gras, Quiche Lorraine, Boeuf bourguignon, Moules marinierès, Coq au vin, Crème brûlée, Macarons Ladurée, ….
In behalf of the 30 employees that make possible Georges, thank you for sharing your comment with us.
Best regards,

The one thing that makes this hotel exceptional is the standard of service. Our concierge Emrah went out of his way to give us the best advice of outings, tours, he even entertained our twin babies so we can have breakfast in peace and taught us some Turkish! If you are looking for that unparalleled standard of service I would recommend this hotel. The entire team simply treated us like family from day 1 and made travelling with babies much easier. Get to know the staff, its totally worth it. Hussien, burak, sami and the entire team are super friendly. This is certainly a hotel we would come back and visit. Make sure you book the panorama bosphorus suite. The views in the morning are breathtaking.

Well done team Georges.

My mom and I were quite meticulous in choosing our accommodation for our Turkey/Greece Trip in August 2012. We spent well over 3 months researching hotels and finally chose Georges for Istanbul.

We were not disappointed in the least. As a person struggling with back problems, I hardly sleep well in hotel beds but this was a very pleasant stay. Very well laid out, equipped and spacious room. To us it is the small stuff that makes a difference, like carefully placed chairs, tables or extra drawers. This makes your stay even more comfortable, as you don't have to bicker over space.

The hotel always had such a great smell upon entering and besides the great service from all staff, the breakfast and view from the rooftop is just spectacular! This was really great value for money and the breakfast is over the top special and delicious.

Being part French-owned the hotel has some of the best croissants around. I must add that although the daily rate with breakfast included is of exceptional value all extras will add up very quickly. If we stay here again, we will not have croissants and have our laundry done elsewhere. Very pricy!

Well located, very close to Istiklal Cadessi Metro and shopping avenue as well as the tram that will take you all the way into Sultanahmet. Take note- it is a steep climb back to the hotel but well worth the butt workout as most taxis do not know exactly where the hotel is located. So to avoid being made a fool of, have the taxi call the hotel [which they very rarely do] or just take the hike back up slowly. It is a love-hate relationship :)

Some recommendations:

- The shower divider could be extended so as not to mess all over the floor
- Lightening in the bathroom is not great for doing make-up

And a special extra:

- Loved the bathroom door that doubles as a mirror :)

Room Tip: We stayed in the Deluxe Double, which was great with it's own private terace to kick off your sh...

A beautiful small hotel in a perfect location to view the city for sight seeing, nightlife, or just strolling around in either 19th century or contemporty Istanbul. The quality of the rooms is outstanding considering the price. High quality bedding and a sleek bathroom. The breakfast that comes with the room is amazing. Have whatever you like. 1 cappuccino, fine. 2 cappuccinos, Great. 3? Of course! No extra charge. Very generous, all while looking over the Bosporus.

We had a bottom floor room, which you can hear a little noise from but not much. Of course try to get a higher room if you can.

Only weak point is that I wish there was more storage space and also that I wish the bathroom was a little more separated from the bedroom. Very little privacy and every little noise is heard.

But all in all. Beautiful, friendly and a bargain for value. Do not hesitate to book here. You will be more than happy.
