Stayed here in April for 2 nights. Bedroom was okay. Didn't have any natural light so was a bit stuffy. Bed was okay but sheets didn't fit properly so they slid all around.

Bathroom - shared with 2 other rooms and shower was pretty dirty, toilet light didn't work resulting in a messy floor and difficulty brushing your teeth!

I agree with noise comments - people coming and going at all hours of the night, but this is to be expected at a hostel.

Location was good. Easy walk down to Galata bridge and across the the city if your keen for a big walk, or the tram is easy to use.

Breakfast was provided in a great top floor room with great views, but provided only bread and spreads.

If you expect a hostel then you shouldn't be disappointed, they don't charge much and hostel reflects this.

Me and my friend stayed in Galata West for 1 night in May, It was quite easy to find as it is very close to Galata Tower and short 5 min walking distance from the Galta bridge whichj takes you to all main atraction places. Our room was clean and mattress was hard which made it nice and comfy. It was quite noisy as we had loud neighbours and soundproof was not very good, but as we spent just a little time in the room it did not bother us much. The terrace on the last floor was a nice touch where you could enjoy a drink or cup of tea and see Galata Tower and other parts of city. There is also a kitchen which is good, but we did not use it appart from making a cup of tea. And free Wifi connection is a plus. It was good overnight stay for good value as we paid £13.50 each.

Bedrooms were fine but bathrooms were a different story. Pretty dirty and toilet paper was not replenished. My main issue with this hostel was the noise...it travelled throughout the whole building anytime somebody opened a door, walked down the stairs etc. Very hard to get a decent nights sleep. I would have thought that with 24 hour reception some sort of control would have been in place. Breakfast a bit disappointing also. On the positive side - great location and loved the terrace. Place is cheap but experienced better.

the LOCATION ---- a little bit far from the tram station, but it's worth it cuz its high on the hillside and you can see the Galata Tower from the top floor.

the VIEW ---- as I writed before ,the view is very good and you can see at least half the city from the top floor, and when you eat your breakfast there and chat with friends during the evening ,is a enjoyment.

the BTEAKFAST ---- totally self-service,and a little bit lack of vegetables but you can buy yourself in the supermarket nearby.

the SERVICE ---- staffs there are very nice and warm.

Room Tip: Dormroom for 4 people very good

Okay so the showers are a bit dirty. They should really repair and clean them.
To make up for that: the mattresses are brand new and quite comfy, The airco works perfectly and that is the most important thing in super hot Istanbul. The terrace is lovely and it has a pretty nice view over the city.
With a bit of luck you'll find the owner and his friends there beat boxing. They are super kind.
I forgot to print the route to the hostel so i couldnt find it. I called the hostel and the manager came to pick me up. The next day the owner took my friend and me out to party. Had a lovely time there.

The hostel location was good if you're willing to do a bit of walking. It's across the Galata bridge and up a steep hill from the main tourist area in Istanbul. It's located in an area full of electrical shops. There is a small grocery store within walking distance. It's a short walk to the Galata tower. At night the streets are deserted if you walk from the tram to the hostel which made me a bit apprehensive. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hostel was on a little side street and took a bit of looking to find. The room we had was small with low ceilings, but was clean. We had a double bed but the sheets were too small and we ended up on the mattress by the morning. It had a window but it opened into a blank space between walls with no light. The room had air which worked well. The bathroom was clean and small but the shower on our floor was gross. The ceiling was moldy and peeling and the shower itself had mold in it. Not very appealing. We used the showers on the other floors which were better, but still not good. The mold in the showers needs to be cleaned up. It's a short walk down-hill to a tram stop. The building is quite narrow and tall with only a few rooms per floor so there are a lot of stairs to climb to get to the kitchen at the top. There's a great seating area up top where you can see the Galata tower and the top of the Blue Mosque. Unfortunately there were always people smoking up there which made it uncomfortable for us to use. There was free wi-fi and a stereo system and games available. Breakfast was served on the rooftop and consisted of bread and jams and tea. Rooms are reached by a winding circular staircase. The first room on each floor is a bit noisy since the door opens to the wooden staircase and you can hear everyone clumping up and down the stairs. Overall the place is cheap and just OK. We've stayed in better hostels.

Room Tip: Don't get a room on the stairs. They're really noisy at night.

We stayed at the Galata West for 3 nights and we were very happy. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The bathrooms were a bit small but always kept very clean. The staff was more than helpful. We were traveling with bikes and they were more than happy to help us store and look after the bikes. They also helped with sight seeing questions and even taught us how to make Turkish Cay!!

The location was also great! It was just a short metro ride to the Blue Mosque and the bazaars. I really liked that it wasn't in the heart of everything, it made the hostel very peaceful and relaxing.

I would recommend this hostel to anyone planning on visiting Istanbul.
