Air conditioned rooms, the balcony view, cleanliness

Location ideal for attractions. Tourist and residential mixed in. Get a real flavour of Istanbul
The staff all spoke English. They were very friendly and helpful. The owner, Nihat, was there to welcome us to his hotel and regularly took time out and sat down to talk to us. The Manager Bayram was excellent very knowledgeable and got us the best deals on our excursions. He also made sure we were looked after by the tour operator. The kitchen staff were also fantastic especially Anwar.

It was sad to go and we will miss them but hope to return and would recommend this place very highly. Location is also excellent pretty central to the attractions and Mac Donalds a few minutes walk :-)

This hotel is not located terribly conveniently to the major sights, regardless of what their website says. The rooms are rather small/dated, and although they advertise a "top restaurant" housed in their underground breakfast nook, I never actually made it there. The first night I was told it was "the chef's day off," the second night I was emphatically told "it's booked 100% full from opening to closing," after that I gave up. However, it's walking distance to a couple other nice restaurants, so I guess that's not a major issue. Each floor has complimentary wifi, and the A/C is very pleasant after a long day of getting lost in Turkish history. The staff are helpful, but tend to offer a hard sell on the package tours they partner with, desperately enthusiastic to the point of overbearing. (I took a handful of pamphlets to leaf through on my first evening, and the front desk called me at nearly midnight to ask if I'd made up my mind on what I wanted them to book for me!) The overall experience is one of bland ambivalence: there's nothing to set it apart from any other hotel, but nothing so terrible as to make me want to NOT recommend it.

If you're looking for someplace outside of the Old City that's quite and comfortable, it'll do.
