The location of the hotel is fantastic as it is just a few blocks away from Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque. It's easy to get to public transportation and it's about a 10min walk down to the Bosphorus river. Istanbul is a very friendly walking city in general. The rooms are small which was fine for us since we didn't spend much time in it anyway. Our biggest issue is that the room is clean and a good location which this hotel was. As a couple we were given a room with two single beds but it wasn't a big issue. Bathroom was a good size and shower had fine pressure. The room was quiet at night. The staff was nice and helpful. The breakfast has a great spread which is included with the room is at the hotel a few doors down. The restaurant is on the top floor with glass windows overlooking the city and is a great way to start one's day with a birds-eye view of the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia and lots of good food to fill one's belly for a day of touring the beautiful city..

this family hotel located in a perfect location in sultanahmet, 5 minutes walk from "hagia sofia" and the blue mosque and topkapi palace. the staff was very kind and helpful.
the rooms are small but convenient and very clean. the breakfast was on the roof of a hotel across the street with a wonderful landscape of the bosphorus.
i recomended this hotel, it is good value for the price!! . If we ever go back to Istanbul, we will definitely stay here again.

We stayed a total of 9 days in Istanbul and for the first 5 days, we stayed closer to the Blue Mosque and paid a lot more for our room. When we returned to Istanbul to depart, we stayed at this hotel, which had a lovely location as well. The room was much smaller than our previous room, but that was fine with us. We liked the decor of this room better and appreciated all the small touches.

One of the best things about this hotel is the breakfast, which is across the street at some fancy hotel with a panoramic view of Istanbul. Breakfast was great! We enjoyed getting up in the morning and finding a seat by the window and just staring at this magnificent city. The breakfast offerings were also good and the hot dishes varied per day.

Staff was always friendly and helpful.
Our only complaint is that the elevator was so so tiny. It fits two people, maybe three?

Overall, I would definitely stay here again.

Everything was wonderful, beginning with the location, near the Blue mosque and agia Sophia mosque and ending with the room and the breakfast location. The staff is very friendly, the room is a bit small but cozy, romantic and very clean. I recommended from my heart. If we ever go back to Istanbul, we will definitely stay here again.

We came to Merial from New Year 31st December (at night) till 7th January. It was wonderfull! Our room was small but cosy, with gentle touch of turkish culture in room's accessories. I put all wealthy goods in a safe in the wardrobe and everything was ok with them. Cleaning was made daily. No balcony, but there is no need of it. Tea and coffee was free as hotel's compliment.
And the transfer from Ataturk to hotel at arrival was free! It was very important for us, because we arrived just in New Year night. Because of our flight delay we was little nervous that nobody will meet us (we was in Turkey for the first time). But our driver was already wait us near the airport exit. It takes only half an hour from Ataturk to hotel.
All personal was very politely and kind. Our hotelier helps us to order a taxi on our way back and consult us by each our questions.
Breakfast was in the opposite hotel, on a panoramic resturant! And it was very good: cucumbers, tomatos, fresh yogurt and milk, fresh pastry, eggs, cheese, fruits - complitly enough for the day beginning.
The hotel placed between Cistern, Topkapi palace, Gulhane garden, Archeologic museum, Aya Sofia and Blue Mosque! It is so important for those who like to walk! Only 2 minutes by feet to this attractions. You can get them in the morning, when the crowd of other tourists, who's getting by bus or train, is away.
Little bazaar is near, and the Great Bazaar and Spice Bazaar in the 5-7 minutes by feet.
A lot of restuarants and souvenirs shops is just on Merial hotels street.
If we will come to Istambul again we will absolutely choose Merial.

Room Tip: Our room was 201, it was silently enough with a street view.

Istanbul is a wonderful city, and most historical attractions are located in the Sultanahmet quarter (Holy Sophia, Blue Mosque, Top Kapi, Basilica Cistern, Hyppodrome...). If you stay at the Merial, which is located in the heart of Sultanahmet, all of these great attractions are at walking distance. The Merial is kind of a tiny boutique hotel, with just a few nice tiny rooms furnished in local style. We really enjoyed the double room on the top floor and its cozy little design bathroom. Air conditioned, mini bar, free wi-fi connection, everything you need to make your stay comfortable. The rich breakfast is served on the top floor of the twin-hotel nearby, where you'll enjoy the most breathtaking 360° view of the city. All in all, a very good quality-price ratio.

Room Tip: Double on the top floor!
