Very friendly and helpful staff, reasonable breakfast, central location and good atmosphere. The staff have good taste in music also - nice eclectic mix played on good speakers in the evenings. Much respect to all the guys who work there (shout out to Giray, Onur and all the gang) Ronan from Ireland.

I've visited Taksim Lounge Hostel in march 2012. The first thing I'm going to say is that it is one of the nicest hostels I've ever been, including a backpack trip of 6 months in South America and a couple of trips through Europe. Even now, almost two years later, I still remember Engin, Tahsin and Cengiz who were always nice and helpful, they have made such an impression on me. It wasn't very busy that month in the city of Istanbul so it was very quiet that week, so there was lots of time to kill. My friend and I stayed home two evenings and those were some great evenings. They work really hard to keep it comfy and to clean the rooms and I can imagine that it is really stressfull to run such a small hostel, but they were always super happy and nice. They made us feel like home from the first day. All the rooms are basic, but there are lockers and everything was always clean. Although it's near the main square, it's in a quiet street so there isn't much noise, so it's perfect a perfect place for both going out in the night, or having to start the morning early. Breakfast is basic and I liked it. There's always tea or water you can drink in the 'living room' and some couches to relax on. If you like a place where you can feel at home and you're not you should go to Taksim Lounge Hostel and have a great time in Istanbul.

We stayed 2 nights in a four bed dorm and were very happy with it. It was cool outside but the room was nice and warm and the beds comfortable and quiet. The shower was hot with high water pressure, one of the best hostel showers we've ever had. There were no locks at all on the room doors so we just kept our bags locked and there is 24 hour reception desk with a front door buzzer so it wasn't too worrying. The building was not very soundproof and we woke a few times from people getting in late to other rooms, but again not a big deal really. The free breakfast was ok and substantial enough to keep us going until lunchtime. Good wifi and friendly staff. The area is great, close to the main shopping street and hundreds of bars and restaurants and only a 10-12 min taxi ride to the tourist sights in sultanahmet. Overall this hostel exceeded our expectations for the price we paid.

Once you've seen the tourist sites in Sultanehmet, this is a good place to stay to see a different area of Istanbul with far fewer tourists. The staff are welcoming, the double rooms are quite spacious, although a little musty, and the bathrooms have super powerful showers and hot water. There is a small and basic breakfast included and the rooms have wifi. The hostel is also close to a lot of embassies so it's useful if you need to sort out any visas. The only downside is that it's a bit noisy as people ring the doorbell all day and night to get in and you can hear it throughout the building.

We really enjoyed our stay in this hostel!
Staff were reallly helpfull and nice, always there if you need something or have a question about the city (You can also borrow maps of Istanbul).
We stayed in 6 bedrooms dorm which was comfy and clean. Bathrooms were also clean and we didn't have any problem with noises, it was calm.
We loved so much the terasse at the top of the hostel! We had breakfast in the morning there and at night we met many nice people!
Also the location is really good, near Istiklal street where there is lots of restaurants and bars, I think Taksim it's the best location to stay in Istanbul!

I was recomended this hostel by a friend of mine who loved this hostel, and i loved it as well!!
First of all the location is awesome, it's near Taksim square and Istiklal street the heart of Istanbul where you can have shopping, eat at any time and go out at night (every bars are there!).
The hostel is really clean, breakfast is good and staff were so nice!! They advised us nice restaurants and came at night with us to party in the best bars (cause there is lots of bars, you have to choose!).
Also, there is a hudge terasse in the top of the hostel where i could relaxed, had breakfast and meet a lot of people at night!

I can't figure out how this place has so many good reviews. I stayed in the largest dorm and it was terrible. I'm not picky--I've stayed in probably 30 hostels over the last ten years, and this was the first time I ever left a place early, I didn't even care that I couldn't get my money back. It's true, the location is good, but there are lots of other places nearby. Our room was much too crowded, there really wasn't space for all the bunks that were crammed in there. The mattresses felt like they should have been thrown out forty years ago, they were so thin that there were actually springs breaking through them. Their site said they had an overhead fan, (which is part of the reason we booked it in August), but there was just a small stationary fan which didn't do much, and blocked the very narrow passageway to our beds. The windows were nailed shut, and the lack of ventilation made it really hot, and really smelly. People who came in really late were respectful and as quiet as they could be, but the beds are so creaky, you hear all tosses and turns throughout the night. Maybe the double rooms are fine, but I definitely would not recommend staying in the large dorm. It's nice that they include breakfast, although it's not great. And we found the staff to be overall nice and helpful, but none of that makes up for how bad the dorm was.

If you do stay here, try to drop off your stuff and check out the room before you pay, because there are no refunds.
