This is a small, clean hotel with a very short distance from Taksim sqare. we spent 5 days in May 2012 in the hotel with special thanks to Hassan Yavhz (the daytime manager) that made our stay very pleasent by being so helpful, nice and cooporative. The breakfast was excellent and rooms are clean and comfortable but has to be shared with a close friend or a couple due to the size and the bathroom design. Of course our room was upgraded to the attic suite which was quite nice and bigger. Hotel has no swimming pool or fitness centre, therefore do not be surprised but the price is reasonable and staff are very nice.

It's a clean and comfortable boutique hotel, we had a nice time staying there. Noise was minimal except the occasional slamming door from other rooms (and ours too probably). Noted the bathroom was an intimate design, a separate toilet room from the walk-in-shower, both with glass door. The day time manager was friendly and helpful, thank you Hasan; in fact, most people on the street were quite helpful if you ever got lost. Great city!

This small hotel is located only a few steps from the busy Taksim Sq and the exciting Istliklal Caddesi, where you can shop 'till your drop! In my opinion, this is the best place to stay, because it is where all the action takes part, this is where the locals go. Near the hotel you can find everything: shops, mini-markets, exchange houses, restaurants etc...
The Havatas shuttle service (from and to Istanbul Ataturk and Sabiha Gökçen airports) stop is only 5 min walking.
The staff is quite young and, like the hotel itself, quite trendy. They greet you and make sure that you are enjoying your stay, giving helpful advice. We stayed in room 501, it had a good size, nice tv and very comfortable bed. It had also a very small balcony and great noise-isolator glass. The bathroom itself doesn't have a door, only the toilet and the walk-in shower (I love walk-in showers!), so it is better if you share the room with someone you are used to :)
The hotel offers you a 0,75L bottle of water (don't drink tap water!), but only one. I should suggest they offer one bottle/day. It has also complimentary tea and coffe, and an electric kettle, as well as a mini-bar. The room has safety box (hidden, at first I could not find it!!) and an excellent hair dryer.
The breakfast was excellent, with good quality food and variety, perfect for starting a day walking. They also give you discount tickets for Faros restaurants (we were on Faros kebab and it was awesome!!) in Istanbul.
The only negative point I have to say, but this is not directly hotel's fault, is that you could hear, from your room, the other guests in the stairs or in the corridors, it they talked too loud, as well as slamming doors. May be the room door could be stronger and isolate more. But that was not a problem and didn't spoil our enjoyable stay at all!!
Good accomodation in Istanbul cost a lot of money, but I think Faros Taksim was a good choice.

Room Tip: Rooms in the upper floors, facing the front, give you nice niews

My friend and I stayed here for 4 nights at the beginning of May. All the staff at the hotel are really helpful, before we arrived they arranged for a taxi to pick us up from the airport (landed at 1am so just wanted a stress free route to the hotel), and whilst we were there the guys on reception were always willing to recommend places to go.

We stayed in room 701 on the top floor, I believe this is one of the rooms that can be connected to another room. The room was very spacious, with the most comfortable beds ever - the matress felt like memory foam. We had a view onto some buildings and a street opposite (see my photos), the windows are very sound proof as they pretty much shut out all noise from outside, also the curtains are black out ones so you won't be woken up by sunlight streaming through the window. Room also had a desk, open wardrobe area, counter with kettle and mini bar, and shower and toilet which were separate to the sink, which was useful when sharing a room with another person.

Breakfast had a good choice - bread, cheeses, hams, tomatoes, cucumber, olives, cereals, yoghurt, jams, pastries and a different hot choice every morning. This was served with tea, coffee or a selection of about 7 different kinds of fruit juices.

The location of the hotel was perfect in our opinion, we mainly spent the day time in the old city and evenings around Taksim Square or Istiklal Caddesi. It takes 2 minutes to walk to Taksim Square, where you can get the metro easily, the Havatas airport bus also leaves from Taksim Square. We always felt fairly safe walking around at night (2 females in mid twenties).

I would definitely recommend this hotel.

-They excel at what they set out to do by keeping it simple.
-They kept us well rested, well fed, recharged & informed to go out and explore Istanbul.. which is the whole point, right?

Special thanks to HASAN. His advice on Istanbul made the difference.

We stayed at Faros for 7 days including over the Easter weekend. Had a great time, great location (away from the most touristy parts of Istanbul) so you can feel a little bit more relaxed. Hasan and the gang were great, they are so relaxed and just get the job done!
Would recommend this hotel for anyone who is visiting Istanbul, especially if you are there for a few days!
Keep it up guys!
