this is a wonderful hotel with a very kindlly and helpful staff, clean and a marvellous view on istanbul, the bosphore and the golden corn. The place is quiet and not far from a lot of places to visit. If you decide to stay in a confortable place, with the opportunity to refresh and relax in the swimming pool when it is too hot, then you have to choose this hotel.

Room Tip: Our room with a view on the bosphore was large and quiet.

We just returned yesterday from Istanbul and stayed during 4 great days in the HHK and it was just fabulous. All of the staff were really "thumb up" in any way (many thanks to everybody) and the fantastic rooms as well as the whole wooden hotel in its old traditional way of Istanbul houses is just a stay worth it. Even the Location is not in the uper-class, high-level, golden-polished street area of Istanbul but in the real part of the Sultanamet and very close to all the big sights, we fellt just great. Walking home through the old cobble stones pavement along the tiny little craftsmen shops showed us a part of real Istanbul. Anyway I attest all the other recommendations from Kazza / Melikebil and David L for 100% and hope to be able to return soon.

This is a great place to stay when you're in Istanbul. An intimate place in Sultanahmet area in a quite street, which even for some taxidrivers is hard to find. Owner and staff are very kind and helpfull, from arranging taxi's to advising on restaurants. Rooms are quite small, but when you realize this is an Ottoman house from 1850 which was not build as a hotel, you will admire the ingenuity of the bathroom.
Great views from the room, terrace and pool. Nice pool. Free sauna and hammam. Very tasteful breakfast. We stayed here only one night with eight people but couldn't find any issues we were not satisfied with or we would like to be changed. As a goodbye-gift we received a box of Turkish delight. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone, Price-quality ratio deserves a great rating.

If I could buy one of the rooms in this wonderful hotel and live in it till the day Istanbul is called Constatinople again, I would.

Great view of the Bosphorus. Wake up at dawn to watch the sun rise from bed - AMAZING!
Swimming pool with sun deck. Perfect for cooling off after a day of walking around.
15 minutes from the Haj Sophia, Blue Mosque, and Grand Bazar.
Very hospitable, relaxed, young staff who treat you like guests not like customers.

All in all one of the best hotels I have stayed in. Because it felt like dream real estate.

We stayed at the HHK hotel from 6th - 10th August 2012 and booked back in January when the hotel had only just opened.

First of all the customer service from the staff at this hotel is exceptional. We had a few problems prior to our arrival in Istanbul due to our airline cancelling the route and the staff were extremely helpful in helping us to solve the problem without having to cancel our trip. I exchnaged many emails with the hotel before our trip and all my emails were responded to quickly and providing as much help as possible. During our stay staff were always on hand should you wish for anything and were more than happy to help out booking taxis, locating restaurants etc.

The hotel provides a one way transfer from Ataturk airport and our driver was there to meet us at the airport on our arrival to whisk us quickly to the hotel. On arrival we were greeted by the hotel owner and offered a drink on the terrace overlooking the Goldern Horn and Bosphorus whilst our bags were taken to our room and checked in. These drinks were on the house and we were also provided with a platter of cheese, olives and a bowl of crisps as it was too late to go out for dinner.

Our room was beautifully decorated. Very luxurious and exactly as the hotel websites shows - which definitely doesnt always happen!!! The terrace and the pool provided a fantastic view and were very welcome after a days sightseeing in Istanbul in the August heat.

The breakfast served every day was fantastic. Loads of variety and very plentiful! A great way to start the day.

It really is very difficult to find any negatives about this hotel, The only negative we felt is that the price of drinks were extortionately high. A 330ml beer costs 10lira (nearly £4) and a small wine 16lira (£5.50). This was more expensive than anywhere else we found in Istanbul which is a shame as we would have maybe enjoyed more drinks on the terrace overlooking the view had it not been so expensive. This would not stop us going back though.

There are two other things we feel travellers should be aware. Firstly the area in which the hotel is located is very hilly and the quickest way to the hotel is up a very steep hill. I therefore would suggest this room may not be suitable for those with mobility issues - although the use of taxis could resolve this. Although other reviews have complained about the local neighbourhood we enjoyed seeing 'real life Istanbul'. Yes - the area is run down but at no point did we feel threatened.

Being in a local neighbourhood we also had to embrace some of the traditions of Ramadan... which involved someone banging drums throughout the streets at 4am to wake people so they could eat before sunrise! This did of course also wake us but we were visiting a Muslim country during ramadan and it was interesting to learn about their customs. I was only woken twice in four nights but it is something to be aware of.

All in all an absolutely fantastic trip to Istanbul. if we come back to istanbul we will stay here without doubt. I will also recommend this hotel to eveyone I know!

Thank you for a great trip!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the Bosphorus but all rooms seem to be of a fantastic standard
