This hotel gets well-deserved reviews for its opulent Ottoman style and it's friendly staff. The view of Cape Horn is amazing and from the terrace you get a Sultan's view of Istanbul. The rooms are recently renovated and the molding and intricate woodwork is painted in great detail.
The negative of this hotel is it's location - it is awkwardly situated and difficult to find. Most importantly, although it is close to the grand bazaar and the mosques, it is not pedestrian-friendly. The hotel is difficult to reach. With luggage, the walk from and to the metro can be strenuous. To reach the hotel you have to walk up a quite steep hill in an area littered with debris and stray cats. At night that hill seems and feels like it could be unsafe. There dirty alleys and blind spots with poor lighting on the street are unnerving late at night. A taxi is a possibility, but they will have difficulty finding the hotel as it has to be reached from behind.
In summary, we really liked this hotel once we got there, but it's inaccessible location made it inconvenient to explore the area sites. If you have a car and can find parking this might not be an issue, but if you are walking it is not convenient.More
