Fantastic ottoman house, splendid view over Golden Horn, sight over historical Istanbul. Service second to none, renovated with great passion, clean rooms, wonderful assesories on the room, good morning buffet.
Reception service just super.
Located in a area under renovation/demolising :-(

I stayed at HHK hotel for 3 nights in December. The hotel was a bit hard to find, located on a hill in a residential area west of the Grand Bazaar. But once you get over the initial search, the remaining experience is great. The hostess is really nice and helpful, the room and the hotel itself is antique and cultured but very clean, the view from the breakfast room is great, looking across the Golden Horn (not to mention the breakfast was included)! The room key is a huge piece of metal but you don't need to carry it around because you can always just leave it at the front desk when you leave the hotel and they will keep it for you until you return.

The view from my room is great also- one had a partial view of the Golden Horn, and the other two look out to the streets where local residents walk around. It definitely gives a feel of what it is like to live locally in Istanbul.

The big selling points of this hotel are it's views from the terrace (and those who have booked the sea facing rooms), and standard of accommodation.

It's actual location - in the run down part of the city- should not put you off if you want the 'real' Istanbul. Very close to a bustling market area stuffed with locals going about their everyday business. Can prove a little difficult to find and I would not recommend trying to find the hotel using public transport if you have lots of luggage. We had the free pick up service offered by the hotel as we stayed for 6 nights.

The hotel is close to all the main sites - get yourself an Istanbulkart (the Turkish equivalent of the London Oyster card) and use the tram to get around. Very easy and cheap.

We had a great time and would certainly stay at the hotel again.

One final 'warning'. The call to prayer starts very early in the morning - you do get used to it. This is all part of experiencing a completely different culture. Embrace it. A magical place.

Room Tip: Choose a sea facing room for excellent views.

This hotel gets well-deserved reviews for its opulent Ottoman style and it's friendly staff. The view of Cape Horn is amazing and from the terrace you get a Sultan's view of Istanbul. The rooms are recently renovated and the molding and intricate woodwork is painted in great detail.

The negative of this hotel is it's location - it is awkwardly situated and difficult to find. Most importantly, although it is close to the grand bazaar and the mosques, it is not pedestrian-friendly. The hotel is difficult to reach. With luggage, the walk from and to the metro can be strenuous. To reach the hotel you have to walk up a quite steep hill in an area littered with debris and stray cats. At night that hill seems and feels like it could be unsafe. There dirty alleys and blind spots with poor lighting on the street are unnerving late at night. A taxi is a possibility, but they will have difficulty finding the hotel as it has to be reached from behind.

In summary, we really liked this hotel once we got there, but it's inaccessible location made it inconvenient to explore the area sites. If you have a car and can find parking this might not be an issue, but if you are walking it is not convenient.

We had a stay of 3 days. We arrived at our hotel 2-3 hours earlier than our check-in time, pleasantly welcomed by staff with breakfast and in the mean time they readied our room.
Room and bathroom was big enough and very neat.
Location is the main highlight of the hotel, 15 min walking to ferry and tram station and 20 min to grand bazar. You can have an amazing view of golden horns and galata bridge from rooftop lounge.
I would most definitely recommend this hotel, if you don't mind a little bit ( 3 min ) of uphill climb.

Hotel in old residential part of town but once you step inside the gate you're met with great panoramic views and stylish decor. Staff very welcoming with breakfast and rooms available on arrival. Nothing too much trouble for the staff, which made for a very relaxing 2 day stay. Would definitely recommend it as a place to stay.

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms are just off reception with windows facing courtyard and street, whilst there was...
