We went to Turkey on a tour arranged from Malaysia. We were then provided a local tour guide by the name of Kemal Sendikici.

He was very knowledgeable about Turkey and knew all the great photospots. With his great sense of humour and willingness to please, the tour was very pleasant even though it was a hectic 8 days of travelling 3000km across Turkey.

Kemal is defimitely a tour guide worthy of praise and his patience does show itself even when dealing with difficult individuals in the group.

Overall my experience across Turkey was a great one and if I have the chance to come back and do a more detailed tour in Ephesus or Cappadocia, Mr Kemal Sendikici would be my first choice.

We took our tour from Malaysia and then the agency arranged Mr. Kemal as our local Turkiye (according to Mr. Kemal, Turkish doesn't prefer others to call their country Turkey) guide. He is a great person. Knowledgeable, funny, sporting and many many more. One thing we could sense from him, he loves his country so so much and always proud of the past. As we are from a Muslim country, he showed us there is another side of Muslim which is undoubtedly lovely!
One last thing, before we went for the tour, we didn't even check for review in Trip Advisor. Who knows, Mr. Kemal is so popular over here. Haha... :)

My wife and I had only a few days of personal time in Istanbul and friends of ours strongly suggested we use Istanbul Tours by Local Guides and specifically Ugur. We were extremely happy with the tour and all of the other information we picked up from Ugur, it could not have been any better. We saw the 5 main attractions in the right order which really makes a difference, ate wonderful food, took a couple of side trips that me wife wanted to go to, and had a great time doing it all. We have been on private tours of cities all over the world and this one ranks right at the top. Thanks for a wonderful start to our trip to Turkey.

I recently visited Istanbul and Cappadocia, with two friends, and had the great fortune of having two wonderful guides. Abdil Bicer spent a day with us in Istanbul. Our first stop was the Topkapi Palace. He was very knowledgeable and able to explain the history and customs of the palace in an interesting and informative manner. He turned history into a fascinating story that was easy to grasp. His explanations were a highlight of the visit. From there he took us to the Aga Kapisi, a wonderful tea house, with regular and herbal teas and coffees. We had a needed rest overlooking a magnificent view of the Bosphorus. This is the type of place we never would have found on our own. We went to the Suleiman Mosque where he described at great length the details of the structure, as well as the history of the architect. From there we went to a fun lamb kabob restaurant for lunch and ended our tour at the ancient city walls of Istanbul. It was great to have his company and expertise for the day.

In Cappadocia we had the great fortune of having a wonderful guide, Nihat Yilmaz. His email is guide-nihat@hotmail.com. My friends and I felt we hit the jackpot. His is a caring, smart, attentive guide who made our trip to Cappadocia so much more than we expected. Nihat made sure we visited all the highlights of the area. We went to the Kaymakli Underground City, Nar Lake, Guzelyurt Church, Ihlara Valley, Belisirma for lunch, Yprakhisar, where Star Wars was filmed, Asikli Hoyuk ancient ruins, Devrent Valley, and Saruhan Carevanserai to see the Whirling Dervishes. More important Nihat was attentive to the kinds of things we were interested in and altered the itinerary to fit our needs. We were able to see so much of the surrounding area and towns, as well as sample the delicious food of the region. Nihat introduced us to our favorite restaurant of the entire trip. It's a little gem called Muti, located in Urgup. It was so spectacular we ended up eating there two consecutive nights! He is so bright and knowledgeable about history and architecture that you are constantly learning while experiencing the sites. He also knows when to relax and stop for ice cream! I don't think we would have had such a wonderful time without him. He really made us appreciate the people and customs of the area. We are looking forward to using him again in the future.
