It's a nice place to go once.
Among numerous shops that offer you knock off bags and watches from every imaginable designer, you can also find some interesting traditional lamps and also a good variety of spices. It's an overall interesting experience. The bazaar, although HUGE, is very clean and organized. Oh and we had THE best doner kebobs in the bazaar! Yum!!

You may think it's too crowded and it's such a long walk to go through the whole BAZAAR! true but it is a must visit attraction in Istanbul, very interesting, you see locals all around selling all kinds of clothing, souvenirs, fake brands, a huge selection of everything once you get there you will want to see each and every shop:) worth the effort, cz you will find everything in one place and the prices are fair but you have to bargain; take lots of pics!

very well organized, clean and with huge variety of products! The Grand Bazar is a must go for every turist, this is the heart of trading in Turkey and the products are nothing less than OUTSTANDING. If you are looking for a place to buy cheap souvenir, than look some place else, here it´s about variety but also about quality. For those who like to bargain, it´s a paradise, otherwise you´ll make the sellers very happy and you´ll leave not that satisfied. I thought I would find there other things to do, eating, music eyc like others market around the world but Gran Bazar it´s all about buying.

I advise visiting briefly as it is near to all the main attractions and therefore won't eat too much into your itinerary. However only go for a quick stroll (say one hour) to get a feel of the scale, but certainly do not spend any money here.

Even if you bargain the price down to 1/2 the original you are not getting a bargain. This is a tourist trap and no locals shop here.

Once you have visited the grand bazaar, do your shopping in or around the spice bazaar instead (found next to the Galata bridge). The prices in some cases are 4-5 times cheaper on basic items and at least half the price on more expensive ones.

Please please please don't shop at the Grand bazaar you will only be disapointed when you see goods on sale at a fraction of the price later on.

Everyone visiting Istanbul needs to visit the Grand Bazaar. How long you actually stay there depends on whether you can stand the crowded indoor alleyways, and the very pushy shop owners It is almost, no, actually completely impossible, to browse in any of the shops. If you so much as slow down, the shop owners will try to lure you in. Definitely the penultimate of high pressure sales! We stayed in a small hotel in Sultanamet and the owners helped us find local shop owners to talk to and buy from. Much more enjoyable and educational, too. All this being said, you still need the experience of the Grand Bazaar when in Istanbul.
