The Hagia Sophia is so beautiful, it is a must see! It is located just across from the Blue Mosque. The Hagia Sophia is closed on Mondays.

Definitely worth the visit! I'd recommend getting a museum pass so you don't have to wait in the horribly long line. There's a lot of history and the mix of Christianity and Islam is really interesting.

Aya Sofia is quite impressive, especially the enterior. I had visited many churches in Europe, but i have to admit that this one is extraordinary. The magnitude in combination with the history of this place makes you feel humble. I am happy to see that the church is currently under massive restoration works. Many of the mosaics and drawings are again visible. I recommend it to everyone. Aya Sofia should be everyone's number one destination in Istanbul.
In order to avoid the crowd, you can use the automated kiosk ast the entrance (30 turkish liras).

This museum, was mosque, was church, is fascinating. Now that it is a museum some of the Christian icons have now been exposed again and are being restored. A visit here helps to give more understanding of the history of Turkey in terms of Christianity and Islam.

It's amazing to think that this building is more than 1500 years old. I cant begin to think how they built this majestic building so long ago. Takes at least an hour to full appreciate and see the different areas of the building. If you get a tour guide (which you have to pay extra for) you can skip the long cues. We did this and thought that it was well worth the money.
