It's very touristic site even price wise but just walk few minutes out you will find a shopping street better prices.

This place is very attractive. They have some really nice and original spices in here. I got some pure saffron and have used it to prepare a lot of Indian dishes and they get a super flavour with that. Also they will sell you a lot of nice Turkish delights. Not expensive and good quality. Only things to watch are the sales guys in front of the shop. They can speak a few lines of any language and then can try to woo you to buy stuff of them. Not all are bad but just be careful that they are not trying give a bargain which is not reasonable. Like check the expire dates of food products. I would suggest you wander around the whole place and then carefully make your choices in the second round. I always want to go back to this place whenever I go back to Istanbul.

This is way better than Grand Bazaar for me. It is a show of different colors and flavours. Go there and don't be afraid to talk with the sellers, try their candies, smell the spices. Very fun visit.

The main street of the spice bazaar is an experience. There are many shops selling soaps, dried fruits, nuts, turkish tea, tea sets, pottery, evil eye items and lamps.

If you get time to explore the side streets of the market
there are pet shops, coffee shops, manyyy scarf shops and other specialty stores.

you will need a few hours max (not the whole day).

between the metro stop and spice bazaar are other markets which sell towels, linen, dress materials, swimming costume and even stitch an outfit / swim wear within 2 days.

This bazaar gives you a true sense of what istanbul is. keep this for the last day of your trip if you want to shop a lot. (spices, cheese ceramics is what i would reccomend). A great place to take local photographs inside the market! easy 4 hours needed for this
