Owner description: This enormous palace was the Imperial residence of Ottoman sultans for almost 400 years. Although much of the palace is not accessible, the daily tours of the Harem are of great interest to tourists.

Gave a good insight to how life was hundreds of years ago. Several interesting rooms to visit and good collection of relics

It took me 4 hours to visit the whole place stopping only to watch the spetacular view of the Boforus behind the Treasure chambers. The best part is the Harem with its mosaics.

The palace has several interesting areas, some a bit weird like the circumcision pavilion, but you need time to enter all pavilions, gardens and terraces with amazing views. The harem is charged separated, you can use the museum card for it and it is very interesting to understand how life worked during the sultans time.
Reserve time to enjoy the views and the lovely gardens with roses everywhere.

Beautiful gems displayed in glass enclosures, but we didn't feel the whole effect of the palace as we were herded from one room to the next. If you have time and are there to see the AyaSofia and the Blue Mosque don't miss walking through it.
