Owner description: One of the smaller mosques in the city, it was built by Rustem Pasa in 1561 and is noted for the very fine tiles covering the interior and exterior walls.

I visited a fair few mosques in Istanbul (including the Blue & Suleymaniye Mosques) and I think this is my favourite, partly because it was quieter than the others and also this one seemed to have an air about it - it felt ancient & the decorations on the walls, I admired them more. It's right in the heart of the bazaar, so finding it may prove difficult, but definitely worth the visit.

I went here on the recommendation of tripadvisor, and while it was very nice I preferred Blue Mosque and Suleymaniye Mosque, both of which are bigger, better maintained, and in my opinion more awe inspiring. That said this mosque is less touristed if you want to feel a bit more local flavor.

I saw 6 mosques in Istanbul, and this was the most beautiful. It's small, tucked away in an alley near the spice market. You don't notice it until you're there but once inside, are you in for a treat. The proportions are just right. It feels light, almost delicate. The tile work features various designs as usual but here, they complement each other beautifully. You feel the architect's loving attention in every little detail. Frankly, I don't know if it can get better than this. I certainly didn't see I.

Tip: if you see this and then visit the Blue Mosque, you will be stunned at how messy and garish the Blue Mosque feels. The contrast is really quite fun to experience.

This mosque is definitely worthy of anyone's attention. Away from the tourist trail, it is nestled within the busy market surrounding it and can be a little difficult to find the small entrance, but once inside, you'll find a peaceful and quiet place of worship with amazing tile work and few or no tourists. It is a very different experience to the Sultan Ahmet mosque, which is a magnet for huge crowds of tourists.

This is an interesting and worthwhile find and the market around it is where the locals do their day to day shopping, which is also worth some exploration time.

To my point of view, this mosque of Sinan is the most interesting structure in the entire Golden Horne area, actually even in the entire city.
Everything is blue. The tiles are so elegant. The mosque which is near of the Spice Bazaar looks simple from outside, but if you enter, you will find a hidden gem.
My favorite mosque in Istanbul. Don't miss it!
