This is one of the best Museum I have ever visited. With more than a million collection in it from many different period of time. The architecture of the museum is really amazing, I felt it took me to the era where the collection was created. Different architectures in different kind of collections. This is the must visit in Istanbul and must be on your list. To whom don't like museum will definitely change their mind when enter this one. I love it, Istanbul Archeological Museum.

We arrived quite late in the day and started with an iced coffee in the amazing shady courtyard cafe surrounded by ancient columns, statues and relics.
Then went through the oriental and main galleries and were stunned at the quality of the pieces on display. Information about the museum was almost non- existent in English but most of the displays had English and Turkish explanations.
The gift shop was closed which was a shame as it had some quality items we hadn't seen anywhere else.
But it still had the wow factor and I would happily return.

This was an awesome museum in Istanbul. the price of admission is included with the museum card. You can easily spend a whole day here if you want looking at the various artifacts. It is in close proximity to The Topkapi palace and other sights in Istanbul.

Not as crowded as the Topkapi Palace, this is yet another must see in Istanbul. The collection is extensive and well presented. Allow yourself enough time to see the entire collection. Of particular note are one of the three snake heads from the serpent column located at the nearby hippodrome and the chain used to block the Golden Horn. The Roman sculpture gallery and ceramics museum are also noteworthy. After visiting the museum, be sure and stop for a drink in the sculpture garden.

But could be quite boring if you're not really a history enthusiast! It tells a lot about the amazing, rich history of Turkey.
