“Museum”

The main part is under refurbishment and you pay 15 Tl full ticket to see small part of the museum
And they don't tell you that on entrance .

“Needs time”
Reviewed 12 July 2014

I was a bit surprised how empty the museum was compared to the rest of the area.
The collections are overwhelming, there are areas about most of the important old civilizations, too much to see if you don't have much time.
The tile museum is also worth a visit.

Spending the morning wondering around the mueseum is a fantastic way to grasp some of the historical and cultural heritage of Istanbul. Make sure to visit if you have time.

“Half shut!”
Reviewed 11 July 2014

We arrived to find that half the museum was closed for renovation work including one of the main exhibits, the Alexander Sarcophagus. However, there was no reduction in the entry fee. The café was awful, with a very limited selection indeed. This "all day" attraction took us less than half a day to go round as even more was closed than was claimed at the entrance.

“Renovation”
Reviewed 9 July 2014

Under renovation. Alexander's sarcophagus could not be viewed and the major treasures were crammed in to a narrow area.
