“Quite a feat of engineering and history”

This was just an amazing place although the lighting could have been better. Living history. It was especially interesting that the water is still present - and it is a cool place to go should it get hot outside.

Very special, marvelous what they could do so may years ago, amazing insight into an incredible civilization. And the Medusa face a must see.

“Get your photo taken”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 July 2014

As soon as you enter the cistern there's a place to have your photos taken in traditional Turkish costumes. Quick, efficient & inexpensive service & a fun memento of your trip

“Interesting but basic site”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 July 2014

The fact that this system was thought up and engineered back then is what makes this place amazing, though a quick walk through, read a few signs and there's not much else to do or see here. DO NOT get the audio guide -- they trick you by selling it right when you walk down the stairs, but all it does is read to you EXACTLY what is on the few signs -- literally the world audio guide I've ever had. They have some cheesy photo booth there also where you can dress up like sultans...seemed a bit out of place, though funny.

“Expensive”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 July 2014

Was a great and interesting place to visit but the cost of 20 lira per person is not justified when you can visit Topkapi palace or Hagia Sophia for 30 lira. There is a photo booth inside though where they dress you up like a sultan etc and charge 15 lira including the photo so a great memory but at a cost
