“Super comfortable but too far from sites.”
Reviewed 26 June 2009

We loved our 4 night stay. Staff were helpful, rooms were large, clean, and comfortable but it is a bit far from Old Town sites. Expect to take a cab to Old Town each day but is in walking distance of Takim Square. Still recommended it to my family but with the caveat that it's not very close to the sites. Make sure you buy turkish delight at Hachi Bekir and eat at Haci Abdullah (ate there twice...awesome food and very helpful staff).

I've stayed in many Hyatt hotels worldwide, but our recent stay at the Hyatt Regency Istanbul is one of the most memorable. We stayed in a room at the Regency Club level. As other have noted, there isn't much of a view (perhaps a sliver of the Bosphorus from a distance). However, the rooms are well appointed and sparkling clean, with very comfortable beds and luxurious amenities. The Regency Club is a delight to spend time in, with a broad range of breakfast choices in the morning and delightful appetizers in the evening. What delighted us the most, though, was how well the staff were trained. In the Club, the wait staff dotted over tables, filling every empty coffee cup or wine glass without prompting. When we experienced a problem with our first room (faint cigarette smell), it was corrected promptly and with ample courtesy. Everyone from the front door staff to the Club concierge were extremely pleasant and attentive to little details. Not only we would go there again in a heartbeat, my wife will insist on staying at the Hyatt Regency and not anywhere else the next time we're in Istanbul!

Stayed here 3 nights as part of our honeymoon. I think the hotel is geared more for business travellers. Good business center and business TV programs. Near Taksim square (beware of rip offs involving shoe shine guys "dropping" their brushes), so close to good doner kebaps and shops. You can walk to a few major sites, but most you will have to take a taxi or funicular/tram. Everyone was more than willing to help with directions and schedules, even though I never saw anyone at the consierge table. Be careful about phone calls. I was charged 65 TL (about $50) for an 8 minute phone call to a cell phone in Istanbul. No one tells you that. Security staff is friendly, and even though you have to walk through a metal detector, it doesn't feel like a hotel that isn't safe. Both my wife and I got spa treatments. Neither was great and facility is a bit sterile. The spa has neon lights that change color periodically. A little too Vegas for me. Staff in spa was friendly as well.

Stayed on the Club Floor (9th), very nice, spacious, comfortable room, with good view (though not of the Bosphorus), large and pleasant bathroom. Continental breakfast was nice although I would advise to stay away from the breads and go for the cold cuts and fresh juice. Location is great as it's near Takism square, from where you can take the Funicular to Kabatas and easily switch to Tram to get to Sultanahmet (old town). Since old town lacks modern hotels, this is a great option if you want a new, modern hotel with a bigger room but still have relatively easy access to old town. Some of the staff on the Club Floor reception seems uninterested and not very efficient, as almost anything you ask them to do , they send you downstairs to the concierge or business center at the ground floor lobby (both of which were often busy and overwhelmed) -- then why bother have a Club Floor at all? One exception was a lady named Iclal, who went above and beyond to help us with our needs ...We are still thankful!

However, I would still highly recommend this hotel for its rooms and its location. We didn't try its restaurant, but the room service was decent. My friend also tried the shoe shine service for her shoes (which were badly soiled while touring in Cappadocia) and was extremely pleased when her shoes were returned next morning looking almost new!

We just returned from a 4 nights trip to Istanbul. We were a group of 6 invlufing 2 boys of 14.

The hotel rooms are good sized and with a large marble bathroom. The service is excellent as for the food. Although a big hotel, nights were very quiet and we could not hear any noise from other guests. Very confortble king beds,

The hotel stands among other major five stars hotel, but its ottoman style building makes it more cozy. It is within walking distance from the shopping street Istikal Caddesi and Taksim square and from there it is easy to reach the old city by bus or taxi.

The room parfume in the lobby is exquisite and the concierge service very prompt and polite. I would certainly reccomend Hyatt Regency for a visit to Istanbul.

Stayed at the Hyatt for two nights during a business trip.
I got a good deal when booking, which was fortunate because the hotel was not worth more than I paid (175 euros/night inc breakfast)
Good rooms but lacking any style or details, average service from an uninterested team.
The fitness center is interresting only if you love cardio, do not expect to go there for weight lifting.
The worst point is the food quality. In a city where you can find so many good restaurants, how can they dare to serve such an "average' (although OK) food?
My stay was OK, good value for he price but I will not go back in this hotel....
