We've spent yet another weekend in Istanbul, one of our favorite destinations for a fun, wining-dining-shopping few days. A great city and wonderful people!
Our favorite hotel, Ciragan Palace Kempinsky did not dissapoint us at all this time with their courteous service, elegant welcoming, fantastic Bosphorus view rooms, excellent concierge expertise, lavish breakfast and this "je ne sais quoi" which makes the difference between good and excellent.
And this is probably the 5th or 6th time we have stayed here over the last 10 years.
Always right!
It's not easy to keep doing the right thing over and over. I know it very well, especially in this industry.
It doesn't come cheap at all (The Super De Luxe Double Bosphorus view is 1,350 Euros in off peak season) but the room is really luxurious and the view unique and breathtaking!
i have attached a few photos just so you understand what I'm talking about.
I would congratulate in particular the airport limousine transportation staff, the front office manager, Mrs Gulsen, and the whole team of concierges for their outstanding service.
Two things I would attract attention on that may need some review.
At the price you guys sell the room, that TV is a shame, really! it's the smallest and cheapest I have seen in a long time. you should do something about it, really.
and the brunch, once famous for the variety and richness, is a pale image of what it once was. Gone are the meat grills, the kebaps, the baked lamb, rotisserie chicken...
In fact the only difference between a regular breakfast and "The Sultan's Brunch" is a table with very poorly cooked seabass baked in salt and an uninviting piece of roastbeef.
While at breakfast sparkling wine flows freely, at brunch, which is double in price, is one glass per person. A nonsense if you will. Crisis must of hit hard the owners because the reductions are drastic, visible and exaggerated.

I stayed here for work, as we are hosting a conference here later in the year, but managed to squeeze in some relaxation too. The hotel is simply stunning. The location is perfect - on the banks on the Bosphorus. Room was beautiful - super comfy bed, and everything you could want provided. Fabulous bathroom with lovely robes, slippers and toiletries. Breakfast is delicious- probably about 200 things to choose from, but I never did discover what 'Foul Madam' was. There is a juice batr with 10 different juices to choose from. Ate at BBQ restaurant one night - outside by the Bosphorous - which was great. Staff are very friendly, and nothing seems to too much trouble. Pool and spa are beautiful. Only down side - everything is very expensive but I guess you get what you (or your company) pay for and here that is a lot.

Now just need a big fat pay rise so I can come back on holiday.

We stayed here for two nights after one night in Sultanahmet. We made the right choice - one night in the busy hustle and bustle of the old city and then two nights relaxing on the Bosphorus. We didn't go back to the old town once we'd arrived at the Kempinski but just explored further up the coast - Bebek, Sariye - both places worth seeing with Chilai a good restaurant to go to in Bebek. It's a day and evening place so why not let one just run into the other.

The Kempinski is a wonderful hotel, great location and very helpful staff. Nothing was too much trouble. The bars were good fun - liked the Fumoir at night and breakfast was excellent - buffet but all different types of foods. I think they were having an Indian wedding the day we left as that morning there was a new breakfast table offering curries and similar. How clever of a hotel to consider who is staying at their hotel and cater for their tastes.

Well done Ciragan Palace Kempinski and we look forward to visiting you again.

Room Tip: Definitely chose a room with a view

If there is a better location in this magnificent city, find it. I challenge anyone to get a more stunning and elegant property.

The hotel overlooks the blue Bosphorus, with the bridge at a most beautiful distance. The rooms are lovely, the gardens lush, the service worthy of royalty and the breakfast!!! Homemade ketchup and mustard, delectable cheese croissants, fabulous felafals, a huge cheese selection and never ending bakery counter, its a holiday maker's delight.

Take a walk along the palace to go to the helipad. Wow.

Remember to take a water taxi to the spice bazaar, its the best way to travel in Istanbul's crazed traffic. Eat at Al Jamaal, Zayerkhane and visit the House Cafe down the road for some lovely food and ambience.

The Ciragan made the trip to Istanbul more valuable.

Room Tip: The Bosphorus view rooms are splendid.
