But do not go there for the food! We had a completely dreadful lunch and so expensive! A little too pretentious for its own good. I would not stay there - no imagination required.

Ciragan Palace has the most beautiful Bosphorus view. Maybe you can't afford it to stay there, but have a visit for a food or drink. You surely will pay too much than the normal hotels, but it is a very old and great palace to sit and see the amazing view. I had my wedding photo shoots in there, and I always look them with a pleasure. You should go and see its magic, you will always want to go back...

We've been to Istanbul previously (staying at the Pera Palace). I must say that the Kempinski is a fantastic hotel. Great staff, fantastic breakfasts! Stayed here for 4 nights in June in a superior room with Bosphorus room (worth paying extra for the view, otherwise you're likely to overlook the road). Eating and drinking here are expensive (as you would expect as this standard of hotel). There are plenty of restaurants within a 10-15 minute walk which still overlook the Bosphorus at are very reasonably priced.
Complimentary wi-fi at the hotel is a bonus. I would mention that this hotel is not really within walking distance of many of Istanbul's main tourist attractions so you would either need to get the tram (which is still a fair distance from the hotel) or ask the hotel to get a cab for you (which are very reasonably priced). Being so far away from the main tourist areas is NOT a disadvantage, it's a lot quieter than some other hotels. If you're looking for a holiday to include sightseeing, relaxation, luxury then this hotel is the place for you. I travelled with a company called 'Aida' who are based in Turkey and they really looked after us. If you have any questions about the hotel, please send me a message and I'll be delighted to help!

Room Tip: Upgrade to a Bosphorus view! It's worth paying for.

Have a drink with Bosphorus view! This is now an elegant hotel. So if you can't afford it to stay there, just have a visit for a drink but be prepare to pay more than normal.. The view is so unique, that worths it!

It goes without saying that this property is one of the most gorgeous and breathtaking in the world. The Palace and it's grounds are quite simply, breathtaking. The service too, is fit for a king - excellent in every respect. Unfortunately.... this is weighed down by some rather annoying issues and I would have given the hotel an "average" score but one simply cannot given the allure of the property. The issues we had were:

1. We booked a Superior Bospherous Room at a considerably higher cost than the other garden view rooms and we got to our hotel room to find that we were kind of looking at the Bospherous, but because we were on the side of the building it was a very limited view. We were looking mostly at the side of the building and some gardens to the side which was VERY disappointing. The images on the website certainly didn't depict the views we had.

2. The breakfast buffet was brilliant in every respect; the service, quality & range of food available was excellent. Unfortunately, the food in the restaurants and room service was very poor and certainly didn't warrant the huge price tags that accompanied them. If you're going to charge top prices for food, people expect top quality results. Unfortunately, you pay for a Bentley and get a Hyundai in this case. Very disappointing!

2. The showers are silly. I couldn't stand up straight and have a shower which was obviously very uncomfortable and when you're paying 6* prices, customers expect better. I understand that the property is old but designing the shower in the bathtub means that there's quite a few inches of height added because of the bath and that ruins the function of the shower.

3. Certainly not a fault of the hotel but be aware that the hotel is a long way from the old town and any major tourist haunts and the traffic to get to the old town was absolutely shocking at best.

After staying here, I think I'll consider other options next time unfortunately.

Room Tip: If booking the Superior Bospherous rooms, be sure to ask the hotel what kind of view you'll have...

I have stayed in many fine hotels but this hotel tops them all. My group and I had the good fortune of being upgraded to the Palace Suite portion of this hotel. The "apartment" was like a pied a terre overlooking central park west. Refined and elegant. We had a personal butler. I have never received such excellent service. The service was impeccable. The views spectacular. The pool area is phenomenal. This is a magical hotel in a magical city. If you can afford to stay in this part of the hotel, it will be the highlight of your trip> there is so much to see in Istanbul, I wish we could have stayed longer, just to stay and enjoy the hotel amenities. Best massage I ever had.

Room Tip: Try to book in the Palace Suite portion>

A wonderful hotel in istanbul - with fabelous view over the Bosperous straits. Lies in the more modern part of the city, but a short taxi ride from the old town. Close walking distances to ferries and restaurants.
