“Perfect!”
Reviewed 10 August 2014

We booked based on the positive reviews and were not disappointed. The location was perfect for our short stay (3 nights) and we walked everywhere, although taxis are plentiful and inexpensive. The room was clean, spacious and well laid out for our family of 3 (we booked the suite with balcony). Everyone at the front desk was beyond helpful from dry cleaning to taxis to arranging one of the best walking tours I have ever had. We normally like to explore on our own but let ourselves be talked into the tour and were beyond happy. It would have taken us a week to figure out the city the way we did in that 1 day tour. Don't miss the turkish bath around the corner. Amazing, a bit pricy but soooo worth it. Oh, how could I forget the breakfast with a view that is not to be missed!

Room Tip: if booking a suite be sure to ask for the balcony room, there are only 2.

The Seven Hills Hotel is in a perfect location for anyone wanting to explore the historic Sultanahmet district of Istanbul with the iconic Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque and Topkapi Palace all minutes walk away on relatively flat streets. Hotels nearer to sea require some fairly steep hill climbs to reach the main touristic areas and therefore the Seven Hills is ideal for less mobile persons. The hotel is of traditional Turkish design with some ornate decor which might appear slightly old fashioned, however the rooms are clean and comfortable and provide all the amenities required by the modern traveler. However the jewel in the crown is the top floor restaurant and outside dining area on the roof which provide some of the most amazing views in Istanbul. Even the more expensive Four Seasons Hotel next door does not come close to the Seven Hills in terms of the views. Most cities include one hotel to which you definitely want to return to time and again and for me the Seven Hills is that place in Istanbul.

This is our third trip to Istanbul, so we knew what we wanted in a hotel. Previously we had gone to hotels which had been recommended by our travel agent, but last time we found this hotel opposite the Four Seasons and after inspecting their rooms and rooftop restaurant, we decided that the next time we came to Istanbul, we would stay at the Seven Hills.
We certainly have not been disappointed. We have a very large and airy corner room with a wide balcony running around the building so we have views of both the Bosporus and the Aya Sophia. The room has double glazing, so even though the hotel is very close to the Blue Mosque, your nights aren't too interrupted. The bathroom is large with a spa bath.
Breakfast on the rooftop Terrace is wonderful. Luckily the food is so good as the view can be totally captivating, 360 degrees of the best of Istanbul from the Bosporus, across the Four Seasons, Tokapi Palace, the Aya Sophia, and the Blue Mosque. The breakfast had everything you could wish for from fresh fruits, eggs, meats, cheeses, breads and pastries, olives, vegetables, both fresh and cooked, teas, coffees [very good cappuccinos] fruit juices. It could easily be a brunch.
The staff are very helpful and friendly ---even to sending up a beautiful birthday cake with candles when they found out that it was my husband's birthday. The rooms are immaculate and the location couldn't be better with most of the major sites within a ten minute walk and numerous restaurants if you don't want to have every meal on the terrace.
I would recommend the Seven Hills to my friends and will tell my travel agent too!

Room Tip: Corner suites are large and sunny.

This hotel is in a great spot, directly across the street from the Four Seasons. Walking distance to many historic attractions the Mosque, Palace etc. and the tourist district. The rooms are nice - nothing special, but the real draw here aside from the location is the open air roof-top dining and views. The restaurant at dinner is packed around sunset with views of the nearby attractions and the water. Breakfast buffet style was included - and eating each morning in the open air was a refreshing start to the day.

If ever in Istanbul again - I'd probably stay somewhere else just to get a different experience, but I'd have no hesitation to stay here again and would recommend to anyone visiting Istanbul.

It was our fourth stay in this nice hotel in Sultanamet/Istanbul. During the last eight years, the whole area has obviously become cleaner and more quiet. The traffic is almost non-existing and the only cars around are only bringing guests from the surrounding hotels. The nearest neighbour is the Four Seasons Hotel and their guests do certainly not make any noise. There are a lot of restaurants in the area, and they serve good food (even though some people say that Sultanahmet is definitely not the place to eat). The hotel has a roof restaurant with a VERY good 360 view of Bosporus, Blue Mosque and Hagia Sofia. The restaurant has fish as speciality, but I have never tried it. A late evening, I went up to have a nightcap at the roof and I was charged 50 (!!!!) Turkish liras for a small glass of cognac. The liquid was just covering the bottom of the glass! I felt looted! Do not order any drinks up there. Instead you should cross the street and have it in the bar at Four Seasons.
On the other hand the roof restaurant is also the place where you eat the beautiful breakfast which is included in the room rate.
The interior of the hotel and the rooms is elegant, but a little "heavy". Brown plush curtains, golden/copper ornamentation, dark wood and so on. All is clean and the staff is swift and friendly. The guys in the reception are nice and eager to give good service.
The location of the hotel is exellent when visiting Istanbul as a tourist. Short distance to all the must see attractions and it's also very easy to get to the other parts of Istanbul. Try the streetcar (tram) to cross the Galata bridge.
Here is a little secret to all men staying at the hotel: Walk down the 50 meters to the local barber shop. It's a small hole in the wall with a old-scool barber. He shaves you with a knife, cuts your hair, washes your hair and gives you a massage. He even burns off the hair in your ears with a lighter. For the price les than a cognac. Think about it.

Room Tip: The rooms at third floor has balconys.

Outside our usual travel budget, our second stay of almost a week at the Seven Hills Hotel made the stay in Istanbul extra special. If you’re going to a special city like Istanbul, why not make it extra special for yourselves and indulge a bit? The magic of historical Istanbul is the skyline, the amazing architecture interposed with bridges, the Bosphorus, and sheer visual history all around you. Seven Hills is best at capturing all those views while being quiet, convenient for walking, taking the tram, and without doubt it has the finest unobstructed roof top patio. You start your day with breakfast, having to choose whether you want to primarily gaze at Haghia Sophia OR the Blue Mosque OR the Bosphorus. What a way to start the day. You can have the same dilemna all day and evening, night time is particularly enticing with the lights. We enjoyed the night time walks in the neighbourhood, after dinner or a drink on the roof top patio, such a nice way to end the day. The staff are superb, efficient, responsive, and very very considerate both in the hotel and at meal or drink time. Our room was nicely furnished, well kept, and quiet for a great sleep. The small size of the hotel, in a historical building, contributed to making the Seven Hills Hotel a great place to stay.

We didn't stay at this hotel as a guest but we visited in a afternoon the rooftop for a drink and a brunch. My husband saw the rooftop from the street... And he said: " let's try to go to that rooftop for a drink".
What a good idea! Feeling the cold breeze, enjoying the atmosphere and the view of Istanbul. Location perfect between blue mosque and ayasofya. I just think the prices are a little bit expensive but I understand also that we are staying in a nice location with a wonderful view of Istanbul. We just have a water and a beer, and some white cheese, tomato and olives, it was delicious but just for that we pay a little bit. However I recommend this place, even for dinner, I bet no people will be disappointed. Staff are attentive and fast. We really enjoy this place!
