“Good Location, Helpful Tips”
Reviewed 11 October 2013

We truly enjoyed our two stays at the Side. We split our Istanbul time to the beginning and end of our trip. This is a superb location, walking distance to Aya Sofia, the Blue Mosque, the Cisterns, the Topkapi Palace. Great, though touristy, restaurants abound nearby.

The breakfast never varied, except for the piece of fruit, but was substantial and very good.

We stayed on the Pension side. The rooms are extremely clean but there is no air conditioning, which wasn't a problem in September. They vary greatly in size and location, so if you get a small or noisy one, see if they have something better.

The staff is helpful and there are informational write-ups to answer most questions a first-time Istanbul visitor would have. Free tea all day and night in the library.

This family run hotel is spotless, and convenient to all the main sites in Sultanahmet. Its rather basic with no luxuries, and lack some ambiance and warmth. But its walking distance to everything. The breakfast deck has so much more potential than the un- appetising platter of bread, olives and a hard boiled egg. And whats with the Turkish TV? Do you really have more locals staying with you than Int'l guests who dont understand a word of Turkish?

This family-run hotel was (so far) the most pleasant hotel experience I have had in Turkey. I stayed there Sept 16-19 with a friend, in the hotel side. It was our first time in Turkey.

All of the staff were friendly, helpful and caring about their clients. The rooms and common areas were spotless. The breakfast was simple and sufficient. We could eat in the breakfast room or take it to the rooftop patio to enjoy the view over the Sea of Marmara.

The location does not get any better. Located on a quiet side street, it is steps from the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and Topkapi Palace. The tram is about 5 minutes away, just past these major attractions.

Would I stay there again? Absolutely and without hesitation.

ideally placed, 5 minutes walk from topkapi, in a quiet pedestrian street, this hotel is the loveliest one I have ever been to. There is a beautiful terrace overlooking the princes islands and the sea, and it is very clean and decorated. The breakfast served is served on the plate and the staff is nice and professional. They propose a shuttle to and from the airport. I have already been three timesthis year to the Side which to me is the best value/quality place to be.

Well we were really disappointed with this hotel. The room itself was ok. The hotel staff was less than helpful with anything. We asked about local transportation, restaurants and basic info and they really were not helpful. Te breakfast was not available until after 8:30am which really was a bummer and it was the same everyday. Overall we would not recommend this hotel.

Very good location, good bed, very good shower, room quite if it is an inside room not overlooking the street, breakfast OK but the same everyday and not available before 8.30am, staff friendly and helpful, air con very effective but 10 euros per night extra, the bill had to be paid in cash Euros no credit cards accepted, cost was 90 Euros per night.
