We stayed at the side last year. It is between the two wonderful mosques and in the middle of everything in Sultanmet.
Service was good location is fntastic.
Not 5 stars but next to the 4 seasons which is.

This was our 2nd visit to Side. What can we say? We love the price, value, and the location. That just about says it all and it should be enough - but we'd love to see a spark of energy and enthusiasm emerge. Every time we approached the desk for our keys we felt like we were bothering them. Gosh, it shouldn't be that way. We also noticed that linens were more frayed. Maybe times are tough?
So, if we return to Istanbul we might stay at Side but we'll look at other options too.
This is the second time we've stayed at the hotel. It is simple but clean and the location is brilliant - so many things are in walking distance. To venture further afield, it's only a five minute walk to the metro. You are surrounded by restaurants galore and the roof top terrace has 360 degree views including the Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sophia.
We are just finishing a week's stay at Side Hotel, and are very sad to leave. The location is great: 5 minutes' walk to the doors of both Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque, both of which are on display as you eat breakfast on the rooftop terrace, as are the Asian side of Istanbul and the Sea of Marmara. Despite the hotel's central location, our rooms (#13 and #14), on the 4th floor, back side of the building, are quiet and peaceful at night; with the AC on, even the early-morning call to prayer is not intrusive.
The rooms are a good size and are impeccably clean. Beds are nice and firm. Showers provide a strong flow of hot water almost instantly. TV's are small but serviceable. Wifi is free and reliable. Breakfast (included) is of the traditional Turkish variety: tomatoes, olives, a hard-boiled egg, fresh bread, jam, cereal and yogurt.
The only minor disadvantages: no elevator. Nescafé rather than real coffee at breakfast. No hand towels or washcloths provided, just bath towels.
All in all, for 90 Euros per room per night, we feel Side provides great value for the price and wouldn't look for anywhere else to stay in Sultanahmet next time we're here.
We have stayed here twice now. It's in a fabulous location in Sultan Ahmet, about 3 minutes walk from Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia. Both of these iconic places are clearly visible from the rooftop terrace, as is the sea, so watching the ships passing and dolphins leaping out of the water is possible. The pension rooms are super clean and recently re-decorated. Air con is not provided in the pension, but they do provide a large pedestal fan if you want one. It's a family owned and run business. Everyone is very helpful and obliging. Breakfast is included and is served on the rooftop terrace. They don't serve alcohol here but if you want to buy your own and drink its no problem. Wifi works well. Great value in istanbul!
I stayed here alone for one night. It's a lovely hotel in the best possible location at a great price including breakfast. I used the taxi service at 30 Euros from the airport because I knew how hard it would be to find. Once you get your bearings it's really easy to get around on public transport. I'll stay there again on my way back out next week.
