“Wonderful stay just at the centre of the attractions”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

My wife and I were in doubt whether to stay at the Four Seasons Sultanahmet or Bosphorous. After some research we decided for the Sultanahmet. Right decision! Just minutes from all major attractions of Istambul including the Blue Mosque, the Aya Sofya, the Grand Bazaar and Topkapi Palace. And you are entitled to enjoy the Bosphorous Four Seasons with their magnificent pool as we did. The concierge is perfect and gave us useful recommendations. What is not worth is to have a meal at the hotel. One should walk close to the hotel with few good options but all reasonable or take a taxi to other regions of Istambul and appreciate the good local or international food. The rooms are complete and are perfectly compatible with Four Seasons standards albeit the building being a former prision!

Room Tip: All rooms for the same tariff are of similar quality but higher floors are better for the view of th...

This hotel is amazing - beautiful accomodations and public areas - unbelievable service and the best location. Oh yes, the restaurants are really good and the breakfast buffet is delicious - and extensive - served in a beautiful glass gazebo with both indoor and outdoor seating. Besides the hotel itself, the best part is walking to the Grand bazaar, the Blue Mosque, etc. and arriving within minutes. I've stayed here at least 5 times and it's always, always special.

Room Tip: ask for one of the balcony rooms

We arrived after a flight from London having been through some of the worst traffic I remember seeing. Arriving in the largest city in Europe at the start of three days of public holiday to celebrate the end of Ramadan might not have been our best idea. It had taken about three hours to drive from the airport, it took about twenty minutes to drive the other way a couple of days later. However when we stepped through the door of the Four Seasons the welcome made it worthwhile, well almost!

This is a great small luxury hotel - 65 rooms - in the centre of the Sultanahmet area of Istanbul. Sultanahmet is the essential tourist area of the city. The hotel is within a short, 15 minute, stroll of the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and the Topkapi Palace Museum. It is longer, maybe 25 minutes, to walk to the Grand Bazaar or you can take one of the modern trams a couple of stops for 4 TL. I would recommend walking to see more of the city. You can always take the tram or taxi back if you have stocked up on a lot of "replica" goods.

The Four Seasons has a nice if not exceptional restaurant. We arrived at the end of Ramadan and were unable to eat in the hotel the first night but did have the special Eid buffet on the second night. It was good and there was plenty of selection, especially the meze and salads. The are lots of other places to eat within a 15 minute walk that are cheaper and just a good as the hotel.

Even if you are not going out to eat it is worth a walk into the main square and park only 5 minutes from the hotel. This gives you an idea of how the people of Istanbul meet and relax. Very friendly, though it is a large crowded place so usual precautions are advised. Worth buying an ice cream just for the entertainment of the seller doing tricks for the children.

The hotel has a roof top bar with stunning views, worth a visit in daylight and after dark top see the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia illuminated as well as looking across the Bosphorus to the Asian side of Istanbul.

The rooms are spacious and well appointed with comfortable beds and enough space to move around even with both suitcases open (when will hotels start to cater for clamshell suitcases with at least two stands in rooms?). Bathroom was luxurious with a bath and a shower. The toilet being in a separate room joined to the bathroom.

The hotel main entrance is on a quiet side street that has quite a slope. As a result even though we were on the second floor we were close to street level. There did not seem to be much noise and we slept quite peacefully.

The staff could not be more helpful they were happy to go out of their way to be helpful and to make sure you were satisfied, including peeling a pomegranate for me for breakfast when I was looking very lost about how to do it without covering myself in juice.

I would recommend this hotel without hesitation. It is centrally located but manages to provide an oasis of tranquillity.

Dear GrahamP81,

I cannot thank you enough for taking the time to write such a detailed review about your stay in July. I'm delighted to read that you and your friends had an enjoyable time in this magical city and loved your experience at the Hotel. Visiting Istanbul during Ramadan is an experience by itself and gives one the opportunity to closely see the cultural elements and taste the delicious food.

Thank you again for your kind comments and for sharing this post. I must add that I had goose bumps while reading the pomegranate anecdote and the attentiveness of our staff. As we always say, our people are our biggest asset at Four Seasons.

We look forward to welcoming you again in the nearest future...

I was torn between staying in the city for sightseeing convenience or staying on the river to escape the mayhem at the end of the day. We were in Istanbul for three days and I am so happy we chose the city location. The hotel is located perfectly to enjoy all Istanbul's amazing sights and yet feels like an oasis of calm when you return. It is a Four Seasons and it is very expensive… so one expects quite a lot but I was still surprised at the level of service they provided. On our departure day we had to leave VERY early, a 3:30 wake up call. Imagine our delight to find a full coffee service outside our door, complimentary… Caffeine may well be the way to my heart!

Room Tip: We had corner rooms that were a bit bigger. One facing the Hagia Sophia and the other with a partia...

This Four Seasons is located within easy walking distance to the major attractions of Istanbul. Their good size rooms are very clean and well appointed as one might expect from the Four Seasons. The hotel has an amazing staff who see to your every need. The staff is both friendly and efficient. I cannot say enough positive things about them. Also, hotel's public areas are beautifully decorated. And for light sleepers, this hotel is quiet.

Our first stay here and found it well deserving of its reputation as one of the world's finest hotels. Location adjacent to Hagia Sofia and Blue Mosque is a wonderful bonus, but this hotel could be located anywhere and still be considered a world best. Service was impeccable (including when I told the staff I wanted to handle my own bags, which normally throws top-notch hotels into a tizzy), the restaurants, bars and courtyards are an oasis from the bustle of Old Town, and the rooms are spectacular. Expensive, but well worth the splurge. Would rank in my top three hotels in the world (Peninsula Hong Kong and Domaine des Hautes de Loire in France being the other two).

I was simply amazed at the level of excellence here. This was my first stay and I found the rooms to be very well appointed, spacious and beautifully designed. The staff were outstanding. Everyone from the front door, to the front desk, through the restaurants to the housekeeping staff were all a cut above what I have experienced in many years of IStanbul hotels.
I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in Istanbul. It was so beautiful & well appointed.
There are small negative things but no need to share.

Room Tip: try to get room with wiev of wonderfull Bospo. small tips will help you sometimes :)
