“Uyan hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 January 2013

Stayed at the hotel for 3 nights with family in the basement apartment in early Dec 2012. Hotel is clean in tidy. Room was comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful. Big thanks to staff of the hotel, Ahmet and his mates, were extremely friendly and helpful. Location of the hotel could not be better, not more than 100 metres from the main square in front of the Blue Mosque. Walking distance to main tourist attractions including shopping. Our stay in Istanbul was very short, not enough to see everything. Next time we know where to stay.

I stayed 1 night on a stopover so wanted to be in a good location to see the main attractions and this was ideal.(2 min walk to Hagia Sophia) I was met at the door by a man with excellent English and given a free upgrade. I'd seen reports of tiny rooms in other hotels but my room was huge with a whirlpool bath in the en suite and a very comfy bed. There was a cool little cafe at the end of the road for food, drink or smoking a hookah pipe. Breakfast was on the roof terrace with views of the Bosphorus, and the buffet had a selection of cereals, cold meats and cheeses, bread and a selection of teas or coffee.
When checking out in the morning, the man at the desk didn't have great English but enough to be able to help me. Great place and well located for sights

This is a very clean, peaceful and comfy hotel with friendly, efficient and helpful staff. Extremely well located for all the historic sights in Sultanahmet and only few mins walk from Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia and others. I stayed with family - two adults and two children - and our room was spacious and very family friendly. Will definitely stay here again and have no hesitation in recommending it to other travellers.

We stayed for 3 nights at Hotel Uyan, so were entitled to a free airport transfer, which was waiting for us when we arrived at 6am in the morning. The hotel is in an excellent location, being just around the corner from the blue mosque, aya sofia etc. The area is also very quiet as most of the streets are blocked to traffic. After staying at Hotel Uyan we stayed in the Sirkeci district near the Galata Bridge and Spice Market. This area was much more lively with more people and traffic etc, which made the neighbourhood that Hotel Uyan is in feel a little like a movie set that no one actually lives in and every second shop being a carpet shop. We stayed in a Blue Mosque corner room which was on the top floor of the hotel. Out one side it had a stunning view of the Blue Mosque, then a small balcony, and a view out the other side to the Sea of Marmara. The room itself was nice, large, bright and clean. The bathroom was also quite large. The drains did smell a little but that seems to be common throughout Turkey. The breakfast was fairly basic but ok. I wouldn’t recommend sitting on the roof-top terrace with your breakfast. The large raven type birds become a little too friendly. The views from the terrace however are stunning. The room was probably a little expensive (200 Euro a night - 8% discount for cash) but worth it just for the views and to have a nice place to come back to for a rest in the afternoon. There’s also a restaurant just down the road near the Four Seasons called Palatium which has a limited menu but nice food, a great atmosphere and ruins of the Great Palace underneath that you can walk through.

Room Tip: The Blue Mosque Corner room on the top floor is worth the money.

Decided to stay here for 2 nights after reading the reviews in Tripadvisor. Loved the location - near to all the attractions! Felt safe walking to and fro from the hotel. Room was tastefully decorated, bathroom was clean with hairdyer. Good spread for breakfast. The reception guy was courteous, warm and helpful when we checked in. Unfortunately, can't say the same for the girl manning the reception the next day. Despite this, will definitely stay here again when I'm back in Istanbul. Oh, and the view from the hotel was awesome! Highly recommended.

We stayed at this hotel for five nights at the end of October 2012. We were upgraded to a large top floor Blue Mosque corner suite with views out to (you guessed it) the Blue Mosque !. We received a complementary pick up from Ataturk airport and found the staff helpful and very friendly. The location is ideally situated within walking distance of the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace and many other places that will be on your 'to do' list. The Grand Bazaar is about a 15 minute walk, the tram is walking distance as well as the underground cistern. There are many good and cheap restaurants within a hop skip and a jump.
This hotel is good value has free wifi and was a great base for our stay in Istanbul

We stayed at Uyan Hotel from Nov 17 - 25. The room was large and comfortable, breakfasts were varied and substantial. We were picked up free of charge from Ataturk airport and our return was arranged by the hotel for a reasonable fare. The staff were friendly and helpful and there was always coffee available on returning from visiting various sites. The Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque were within walking distance as was the tram transportation. We would recommend the hotel and would stay there again when we return to Istanbul.
