“What un ugly building, non-existing service.....”
Reviewed 6 November 2010

It is definitely most ugly hotel building in Istanbul. Built illegally and spoiling the Bosporus panorama. Rooms are really fine but location and service are far away from the prices their are asking.

Efficient reception. Clean rooms. Fantastic large windows for great views. Excellent work- out equipment. Spa offers everything. Restaurant is expensive but excellent breakfasts.
Bedding very comfortable. Big tub for soaking those tired feet.

The Hotel and staff were very accomodating. The room was very nice and clean. Beds very comfortable. Very nice, but pricey, breakfast buffet with great view. The hotel was close to a tram line, had to climb down hill to get there. Great location for business hotel, however if seeing normal tourist sights would have prefered to be in closer location to Blue Mosque, etc. Nice fitness center. We were on a pre cruise package, next time would stay closer to older part of city for convenience.

This was the last destination on our itinerary for our first trip to Turkey as man and wife. The staff is awesome. The travel agent messed up by not informing them that our reservations was for a sea view, but they remedied this after a small "incident". After that, it was smooth sailing. Staff called us by name. We could not stop having the "Turkish delights" at the lobby. And walking to the Taksim square in the afternoon is great. Safe City overall, and nice places to walk. The hotel is highly recommended. I would stay there every time. If you go thru a travel agency you will get better room rates rather than booking it yourself.

We spent three days in Istanbul prior to getting on a cruise ship. The hotel picked by the cruise line was the Ritz-Carlton, but we were a little nervous having read some of the negative reviews in Trip Advisor. To the contrary, this hotel has the highest level of service and comfort we have experienced in our extensive travels. While it is true that the location in the newer part of Istanbul takes a taxi ride to the older part, the hotel makes up for it with superb service. Our dinner the first night was excellent, and every staff member was friendly and could not have done more to make our stay better. The rooms have good views over Istanbul and the Bosphorus, and they are well appointed. The beds were extremely comfortable. In summary, staying at the Ritz made our visit to Istanbul a real pleasure, and we would recommend the hotel to all our friends.

After reading some mixed reviews on this property we weren't sure what to expect. We were very impressed and have only good things to say about it. We were debating between the Four Seasons and Kampinksi but found this location and hotel to be much better located and of much better value.

The staff was very friendly, the room always clean. We stayed on the Business floor and it was one of the nicest we have been in (compared to 4 other Ritz Carlton business levels we have stayed at.)

The hotel is a short walk to Takism Square, as other people have mentioned. This is great if you just want to stay local for dinner or walk around during the day. A couple of times we just hung out for a few hours at the beautiful indoor pool, which was a nice treat and very relaxing. Apparently it is the largest indoor pool in Istanbul.

The hotel gym was also very nice. As soon as I stepped on the treadmill one of the trainers there came over and offered me some water. After I finshed I had the whole gym to myself. As in most non-North American countries the gym was not as well equipped as a big hotel gym, but it was certainly one of the best European hotel gyms I have seen, with newer Techno gym treadmills and Technogym weight machines, plus lots fo free weights and ample room. This was a pleasant surprise as many Euro hotel gyms are tiny and have really old equipment.

Ocassionally we heard the very loud football game from the stadium outside our window, but it was not a big deal. It was also fun to get a birds eye view of the game.. We also had a Heli-Pad outside our room and it was fun to see the helicopters come so close to our window.

The views from all the of the rooms and restaurants are spectacular. I would recommend this hotel to anyone coming for business or for a holiday. It is elegant and quiet with lovely service.

As an additional tip, we have read that you can get ripped off by taxi drivers. This is true. We avoided this by carrying lots of small change and making sure the meter was always on and stayed on. The front doormen at the Ritz were also helpful in making sure the taxis knew where to take you.You are always better to get taxis at the hotel or a taxi stand rather than off the street, although smoetimes there is no choice.

My husband booked us the honeymoon suite as a surprise wanting to pamper me. Our suite was fantastic, champagne, sweets etc were laid out for us on arrival at the suite, they even put rose petals on the bed with heart shaped balloons, all the staff kept congratulating us, ( Even though we have been married for several years, my husband and I felt totally pampered) We had dinner in the very regal restuarant, and was given 5 star treatment, we were given a lovely mouthwatering cake. The outside of the hotel is bland but it's fantastic inside, our suite was lovely. The staff were so attentive but not overpowering. We really loved the hotel.
