Pros: Walking distance to major Istanbul tourist attractions, magnificant Bosphorus view, pleasant staff.
OK: Decent breakfast, but not as good as at other hotels we stayed at during our visit to Turkey.
Cons: Smallest room/bathroom we have ever stayed in! No elevator - elderly and disabled travelers beware of rooms on upper floors! Very small lobby to meet visitors. Barely perceptable air conditioning in lobby to beat off summer heat and humidity.

Wonderful hotel on Sea of Marmara and close to all attractions. Expected just a room but was pleasantly surprised to discover it was a small suite with bedroom, lounge, bathroom and balcony although rooms were quite small. All toiletries supplied plus bathrobe and slippers. Fruit basket received on arrival and water supplied daily as tap water not drinkable. Staff friendly and food good.
Found contacting hotel direct gave me best price and it included breakfast and round trip to Ataturk airport. Definitely recommend Istanbul for it's sense of history and it's contrasting areas. Beautiful

Room Tip: Sea facing rooms on main street so a bit noisy but definitely worth the view

This hotel has a nice spot on the waterside. The walk around the lane ways reveals all kinds of shops and restaurants and it is not too far to the historic sights.
The view of the blue mosque from our room was great.
Yes the rooms here are small and a bit like a cruise liner size but you are well provided for.
The breakfast was wonderful and the patio area a true relaxing spot to start your mornings. I would recommend this hotel.

We stayed at the Best Western Citadel in Istanbul Turkey in May 2012 for 4 1/2 days. What a hidden treasure. It was just a 10 minute walk to the Blue Mosque and many other sites in the same area. It is located on the Mamara sea with beautiful views of the sea from our room. The price was exceptionally reasonable and came with a full breakfast every day and a free bottle of water every day. It also included a free pickup at the airport, a $40 value. The rooms were very clean and modern. The entire hotel was very well kept and clean with a super friendly staff who spoke English very well. I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone. I originally had booked at the Hilton Garden but was very glad I changed

Room Tip: Try to get one facing the sea

Fistly let's just say YES, the rooms are small. We booked through Otel.com and paid €486 for 5 nights. That's just €97.20 per night or about £82 at current exchange rates! For this we had the smallest hotel room I have ever stayed in, BUT also for the money we had: the best power shower I have ever had in any hotel, an immaculately presented hotel (the corridor outside our room was painted whilst we were there, (no smell no fuss, just looked great) We think our room must have been recently redecorated too. It was clean and the staff couldn't have tried harder or been more friendly. We found the location absolutely ideal and enjoyed hte great access to tourist sites aswell as the opportunity to mix it up with the locals along the sea front. The room had hairdryer/shower gel/shampoo as you would expect. But also complimentary fruit basket, slippers, toothbrushes and toothpaste, and complimentary bottled water. This was replenished whenever it was low. We chilled some each evening in a little bottle and took some of it with us each morning when we left the hotel. We had the cheapest rooms facing the back of the Hotel, and our friends had one with a balcony facing the sea, theirs was more spacious and the view across the sea was fabulous. You get what you pay for and if space is important to you, you will need to pay a little more.

Also for this bargain price, a good breakfast was included. A choice of olives, salads, cheeses and meats. There were also two yoghurts and some fruit. (Most of it was tinned and I felt the fresh fruit salad looked a bit tired) However there was so much to choose from. There were also cereals, a choice of honeys (including fresh honey combs) and jams. A fabolour range of rolls, breads and croissants and cake too. Freshly squeezed orange juice and tea and coffee supplies were limitless. There was an option to have an omelette or waffle cooked fresh by a chef who was always available.

The only reason I am not marking this hotel as excellent is due to my omelette experience. The person cooking spoke the English words for omelette, olives, ham, mushrooms etc, but as I don't speak Turkish I couldn't explain that I was vegetarian. I asked the reception staff if they could explain to her and that I would like the pan wiped before she cooked my omelette as meat was cooked in the pan (there were two pans and I assumed one was kept as Halal, but this proved too difficult to explain). The pan wasn't wiped, the omelette contained every non meat item she had at her table, not the mushroom and tomato I had requested and was not cooked. For any Brit who has seen the omelette challenge on Saturday Kitchen you will get the idea of what was presented. Cooked on outide and raw liquid egg on the inside. I tried the waffle the next day and it was delicious. My partner ate omelette every morning and found every one that this woman cooked was under done; though the male chef's omelettes were fine.

Some of the little touches in this Hotel were great, we had a twin room and moved the beds together. The second night we discovered that the cleaner had changed the sheets and we had a double sheet instead of two singles; making the bed much more comfortable. You can book an airport shuttle at reception for the same price as the local vendors with less inconvenience. The only down side is that you must pay the 25 TR (per person) in cash. Frustratingly we did this on the last day and had no cash left afterwards, as we had then used our tip money to leave for the wonderful cleaner (we were eating out using a card and had left enough cash for a drink at airport and tip for cleaner - it was all going so wonderfull well up until that point!) . If the hotel staff read this I hope they will apologise to him.

We chose this hotel mainly for it's location, which is excellent, for seeing the old city. The hotel is very well presented and we did get excellent service on reception and from other staff - all very welcoming and positive. However the major disappointment for us was the very small size of the hotel's standard rooms. I think the small rooms really will disappoint many visistors especially if planning to stay more than 1 or 2 nights.

Room Tip: You will need some space to relax and unwind after touring the sights, the standard rooms here are m...
