I stayed with my boyfriend in the Corner Suite, which was enormous by American hotel standards. The staff was amazingly hospitable and kind as well (and VERY quick to respond to emails). All in all, however, this was one of the strangest hotels that I have ever stayed in. The decor and ambiance was fairly reminiscent of my grandmother's house, so that while the four-poster bed was very romantic, the faded, damask wallpaper, heavy antique furniture and general silence cast a particular gothic/ghostly aura over our stay.
The jacuzzi was great to have, but it did take some time to fill up, as there was not enough hot water to fill it up in one turn. Instead, I was able to fill it about half way, went to breakfast and managed to complete the job upon return to the room.
The breakfast was very good and the view from the terrace was stellar.
My only real complaint with this hotel was with the location, which of course is beyond their control. The street was very quiet (dead, really) and the neighborhood in general rather deserted at night, yet heavy with tourists by day, and there was a lack of quality restaurants and cafes in the area. I didn't feel like I really began to acquaint myself with Istanbul until I left Dersaadet, and my boyfriend and I found ourselves much more at home in vibrant Beyoglu and urban Nisantasi.
The prices were very reasonable, I felt, until we were able to relocate to somewhere much more posh and even larger (another corner suite) for a little less per night.

We stayed in this lovely little Turkish hotel in the beginning of April during four nights and couldn't be more pleased with our booking. As the flight was delayed we were very tired and were really pleased to be welcomed with a nice cup of tee in the beautifully decorated reception. The reason for our trip was to celebrate my husband's birthday and they were so concerned to help me with the arrangement I have made for him. The room was not so big, but we were fond of the Turkish style and it was clean and cosy. The restaurant on the top was excellent with a nice view over the Bosporous and the Blue mosque. The chef of the restaurant is a very symphatetic man and is worth a special thanks for his treatment of the guest! They serve a home-made breakfast and you have the choice to sit either outside or inside. Then you can go up and sit there during the day to take a beer or a glass of wine until 23.30 if you like.
The hotel is perfectly situated in the old part of Istanbul, in Sulthanamet. Walking distance to all the monuments like the Blue Mosqe, Topkapi Palace, Grand Bazar and Hagia Sophia. There is nothing but good things to say about this hotel and if we come back we would definitely choose it again. Well, maybe - we are from the north and like to sleep when it is a bit chilly in the bedroom. There was no good air condition in the room and it was a bit warm I have to say. But when we told them so they brought us a big fan in a minute. And so this problem was solved. They were so anxious to solve all our little wishes we could have and this hotel was a bargain!!

Great little hotel literally a 30 second walk from the Blue Mosque. In fact, when you're having breakfast on the rooftop terrace, it feels like the Blue Mosque is right next to you.

Pros:
Location is perfect for exploring Sultanahmet
Informational cards & brochures at reception for exploring Istanbul
Good breakfast
Beautiful views
well decorated interior
wifi
Amazing staff - will literally help you with anything
Provided airport transport if you stay 4 nights

Cons:
Hot water can sometimes go out
I was struggling with wifi dependability (on 2 devices)
rooms were a little too hot - and A/C was off for the season
Breakfast was good, but the selection was the same each day
Near Mosques, so its loud during prayer calls when you're sleeping

We would definitely stay there again on our next visit to Istanbul.

I stayed at the Dersaadet with my family for 6 nights in March 2012. From the moment we walked in, the staff was very friendly and helpful, always providing excellent tips on sights and restaurants when we needed them but never over-bearing. This is a family business, and it feels it - the owner went out of his way to check that there was nothing else we needed. It is located off a small side street right near the Blue Mosque, and conveniently near Arasta Bazaar (a good landmark for cab drivers). The rooms were big, with great views, and the breakfast each morning was exceptional. I also loved going up to the roof deck on top to hear the call to prayer or just have an evening cocktail with my parents.

Room Tip: My parents stayed in the "Sultan's Palace" which has a great private terrace, and sinc...

This gem of a small boutique hotel is excellently run. It is in the Sultanahmet (old Istanbul)district and is in walking distance of most of all the fascinating places this city has to offer. And there is a simple straightforward tram line that will take you further afield, to the ferries for a lovely ride up the Bosphorus, to the Galata Bridge (one end in Europe and other in Asia), and several palaces. We were here for 10 days, most of it spent in the old district where we could walk to the Blue Mosque, (which is viewable from the delightful Terrace room at the top of the Dersaadet), the Topkapi Palace, the grand bazaar, (now that is an experience), the Turkish Baths, the Mosaic Museum, amongst other places. There are minarets, with muezzins calling the faithful to prayer that ring out across the city. It is like delving back thousands of years to the Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman eras. Mind boggling at times. There are some very good restaurants, (the local wine is very acceptable) and there is a very useful shopping street. There is a beautiful water front where on a Sunday you can observe almost all the inhabitants of the city taking a stroll, having picnics and just relaxing. The people are friendly, energetic, often funny. There was a real mix of people and all in all it there was a wonderfully tolerant air about the place. The Dersaadet is a welcoming place to come home to at the end of a hard walking day. Our room felt very Arabian Nights with a beautiful view of the Bosphorus. The hotel was clean, and all the staff unfailingly helpful. We would go back again at the drop of a hat. This is one unique place.

Room Tip: It seems to me all the rooms are good....
