I would definitely recommend Hotel Dersaadet in Istanbul. The hotel rooms were not too big but very clean and tidy .Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. We were travelling with our 2 and half year old son and they went out of their way to help us.The hotel has a great location too..loads of shopping nearby..turkish spa...and also a supermarket down theroad. This hotel is great value for money!

This hotel was wondeful. The rooms were comfortable and the hotel staff and service was great. The roof top breakfast was fabulous with local cheeses, olives, breads as well as anything else you might really need. The front desk was very helpful and provided any information we needed. The location of this hotel is perfect for anyone who wants to see the historical sites. Less than five minute walk to the Hippadrome and the Blue Mosque is visible from the hotel. All major sites are walkable from the hotel including the Grand Bazar. The area is safe and we had no problems walking the area. Cabs from the city center area are looking to take advantage of tourists and will charge high rates. All cabs we got from the hotel were great and charged a resonable fare. Let the hotel arrange a car to the airport for you. It is a great service and avoids dealing with a cab. Free wireless internet service provided at thehotel with a computer in the lobby area for guests to share!

This was our first trip to Istanbul. The Dersaadet was such a good value. It was clean, personnel and staff were extremely helpful, breakfast was very satisfying and the view on the rooftop for breakfast and end of the day were perfect. It is very convenient and a short walking distance to all the sites and restaurants. The street was quiet and the view of the Bosphorous was excellent. Rooms are rather small but that is typical of European boutique hotels. The only time we spent in the room was to fall asleep. We liked the Dersaadet so much that on our way back home we stayed another night since we were flying out of Istanbul. If we ever returned, we would stay again.

In the interest of full disclosure, I will say that this is the one and only hotel that we've ever stayed at in Istanbul. That being said, I'm not sure what else I could've asked for? The room was spotless (including the bathroom which is always most important) and was cleaned well on a daily basis. Some people might find the rooms to be a bit small, but this appears to be par for the course in almost all of the other hotels that we looked into in this area. The location is very quiet and right in the heart of old city with a four minute walk to the Arasta Bazaar (Which is not nearly as overwhelming as the Grand Bazaar), The Blue Mosque, and the Hagia Sophia. The service was fantastic. The hotel manager (Umit Ciftci) could not have been more helpful to us. His English is very good and his recommendations for sights and attractions all turned out to be spot on. The poor guy was working 12 hour shifts while we were there, but he never let it affect his mood, which was always pleasant. The breakfast buffet in the morning wasn't fancy, but it was sufficient, and the staff was very helpful and attentive. The view from the rooftop area was beautiful. One side gave you a view of the water, while the other side showed you the Blue Mosque.

All of the hotel staff are extremely kind, helpful and very pleasant to talk to, especially Sunay Yilmaz who gave us a very warm welcoming introduction to Istanbul on our first night, and who continued to provide us with wonderful help and assistance with car, restaurant reservations and suggestions during our stay. The hotel staff and the vibrant city made our stay in Istanbul very memorable. The hotel owner was at the hotel everyday, and gave us very good sightseeing suggestions. We have told our friends in Seattle about the hotel and wonderful city, and everybody is anxious to travel to Istanbul and they know where to book their stay.
