Sultanahmet Palace Hotel

My husband and I came to Istanbul for 7 days with just a hotel booking for first 3 days Basileus in one hotel and 4 days in Kalyon - We had a great time at Basileus but the minute we checked into Kalyon we found it very cold and it felt like we were not in Istanbul anymore - a certain warmth and hospitality was lacking. My husband decided to look for another place and the very next day he stumbled onto Sultanahmet Palace - we just feel in love with the beautiful entrance and the ambience! They also made our honeymoon extra special by offering us their suite at an extremely affordable rate with the most breathtaking views of the bosphorous and blue mosque simultaneously. The breakfast on the terrace was delicious. The staff is polite and helpful and held onto our luggage on our last day as we went to buy what turned out to be the best baklava on the manager's recommendation. In short it's an amazing hotel and there's not one complain I can make. We plan on coming and staying here next time we visit.

The hotel is located right in front of the Sultanahmet Mosque and there is a small Bazar just a few walking minutes away. You can also easily get to Hagia Sophia and Cisterna Basilica.
Our room with balcony (second floor) had a view on the sea and on the Sultanahmet Mosque (to the right). The room was very small but we only stayed one night so it was alright.
The breakfast in the morning on the terrace was really nice, you can take your time and look over Istanbul.
We can definitely recommend this hotel, although it is a little bit expensive. Probably because of the central location.
Staff was nice as well, we were allowed to check-in very early (11am).

Room Tip: rooms on the second floor have a view on the mosque and the sea

Good hotel on the flat ,ideal if your not good at walking.lovely room over looking the Bosphorus the entrance to the hotel was in front of the Blue mosque its breath taking . then you have the Haghia sophia then round the corner is the Topkapi Palace, then we had a trip on the Bosphorus and went over to the Asian side to Anadolu you get of the ferry for 2 hours. then get the ferry back to eminonu pier .next trip was to Dolmabahc Palace what a wonderfull place just not enough time to spend there they have a crystal staircase and has the largest chandelier a gift from queen victoria..we also went to the grand bazaar and saw where the orient express came to the end of the line. it is so easy to get around by tram , you can get from the airport by tram to the old city for around 7 lira. in all a good hotel .helpfull staff good food .will be returning to the same hotel wich was in a perfect location.we flew with turkish airlines and booked with cresta holidays,

Nice hotel ,pleasant and helpful staff, food was as good, and inexpensive as most other restaurants . Excellent location, I would definitely like to use it again. I see some criticism about the noise from the Mosque in some reviews, why on earth would anyone holiday in a Muslim country if they did not expect to hear the call to prayer.

Room Tip: best rooms would have sea view and be farthest away from stairs

Everything was more than perfect. The location of the hotel was perfect, it 's close to all the nice sights (Blue Mosque, aja sofia, roman tanks, the see, the restaurants, the metro station, etc..)
We couldn't receive a room with a see view, but the standard room was very good too. The room was big and very hygiene. The room smelled always great. There's no pool, but a traditional hammam instead. It was fun !!!
The breakfast was delicious and the see view of the terrace made it even more romantic.
The crew was excelltent and very friendly, specially the recepioniste "Cevat". He had a lot of positive energy and gave us good tips and recommandations.
Thank you Sultanahmet palace for the great stay in Istanbul.
We felt so much like home, that we even forgot the keys of the room with us. :-)

A positive - location. Right between the Bosphorous and the Blue Mosque. Ask for room on Bosphorous side away from the mosque as the call to prayer is VERY LOUD! Close to lots of interesting things. Lovely view of Bosphorous from roof top.
Many negatives - food wasn't great. The internet was TERRIBLE - didn't work half the time and when it did - it as weak and sporadic. Had to go down at 2 p.m. to ask for my room to be cleaned. The 'cleaning station' - where cleaning staff gathered and sheets etc kept - was right across the hall from our room - and the staff that were in there on a regular basis during the day were also very loud - visiting and chatting while guests were trying to sleep. Bought soccer tickets from man at front desk - as in he arranged for us to buy them - paid through the nose, didn't have seats per se - he didn't tell us it wasn't the normal stadium but a stadium that was over one hour by cab away, etc. The television was a joke - few channels, tiny and crappy.

We had four nights at this hotel while in Istanbul recently. 5 min walk through the Arasta Bazaar brought us straight to the Blue Mosque and all the other main attractions in the old city.
Beautiful gardens in front of and down the side of the hotel. Lovely decor in the main foyer and bedrooms. Breakfast on the deck overlooking the Maramara Sea was a great start to the day.
Staff weren't particularly friendly - just did what they had to; but everything else made up for their lack of service.

Room Tip: try and get a room on the top floor on the side overlooking the sea.
