“Small hotel in a great location”
Reviewed 17 September 2013

We spent 3 nights here in Istanbul prior to boarding our 6 star Crystal Cruise. We wanted to stay in a luxury hotel with a more local flavor than the Ritz or Four Seasons and we wanted to be walking distance to all the main sights. We chose this property based on tripadvisor reviews in conjunction with our travel agent who understands our luxury travel style. The hotel arranged for a driver and an english speaking guide to pick us up at the airport which was excellent. We arrived late at night and check in was very easy. Immediately noticed their TripAdvisor sign behind the desk! Our room, while very clean, was probably the smallest room we have stayed in during the past 20 years, and we did book their largest room category. It was much smaller than our penthouse on the ship! Closet space was also quite small. We spent 3 days tripping over all the luggage we had brought for the attire required for a 12 night luxury cruise. The bed was also small and very low to the ground. We were awakened every morning by the call to prayer at the crack of dawn over the loudspeakers outside in the city. I am sure this would be the same at every hotel in Istanbul, so I suggest you bring the earplugs they gave you on the plane to help alleviate that problem. The bathroom was clean and modern. Breakfast was included and i must say it was a challenging breakfast. Other than rolls and some fruit, not at all our style or like any other hotel breakfast that we have had on our many trips to Europe. We skipped it completely on our last morning. I enjoyed reading the information on the hotel ruins in the lobby. Made you appreciate the history of where you were staying. Location was great for walking around the city. There was a nice sidewalk cafe/bar across the street that we went to each evening. Overall the staff was very professional and friendly. Beware of a scam that happened to us. unbeknownst to us we were followed one evening as we left the hotel to go out and find a place to go for dinner. About 10 minutes into our walk a young man came up to us and asked us how we were enjoying our stay. He said he worked at our hotel and recognized us. We didn't recognize him and should have walked away quickly. He discouraged us from going into the restaurant we had decided to meet us and insisted on taking us to a better place where I am sure he got a big kick back. Needless to say the food was terrible and overpriced and it turns out this person did not work at our hotel. I took a photo of him as he walked away and staff said that he most definitely did not work at the hotel. If we ever return to Istanbul again, I think we will opt for The Four Seasons.

Room Tip: Book the largest room possible as we did, but be prepared that it will be very small.

Located as one enters the Old City from the seaside, the Eresin Hotel, is a lovely little boutique hotel with very good service, clean rooms and a wonderful breakfast. Perhaps the only criticism is the size of the rooms. They are quite small, however how much time does one spend in their hotel room when there is so much history, culture, art, etc. to see in Istanbul? The rooms are kept very clean; they provide ample toiletries including toothpaste, shaving cream, razor, shampoo, conditioner, moisturizer, sewing kit, as well as slippers and robe; and they keep a plate full of Turkish delight candies full on the dresser, as well as a nice selection of teas and coffees. An added bonus is the Jacuzzi tub, which is very useful and pleasing after a long day of walking and touring the city.
Those at the reception desk are helpful and professional, and the other staff in the hotel- concierge, restaurant staff, housekeepers-- are extremely friendly and accommodating.
The breakfast, however, was the piece de resistance. What an incredible view from the terrace! And the offerings were fresh and delicious, including several different cheeses, chicken and turkey salamis and meats, breads, yogurts, juices, fresh fruit, dried fruits and nuts, cereals, eggs, sausages, Turkish pastries, coffee, tea, etc. They also serve dinner, which I did not try, however a glass of wine at night with that view was superb.
Overall, staying at the Eresin was a very pleasant experience and the price was not excessive.

After travelling for 30 hours from Australia, my 12 yo son and I were more than exhaust.ed on arrival. We were met by a smiling and welcoming face at Reception and nothing has been too much trouble for them to assist us. Loved breakfast on the rooftop Terrace, the view was sensational, food certainly adequate but not outstanding. Looking forward to dinner there tonight, can only imagine the view at night! Rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable. Would absolutely recommend the Eresin Crown.

Room Tip: Please disregard the Terrible Swimming Pool and Fitness Centre, the hotel has neither but I couldn...

I was looking forward to my 3rd stay at this wonderfull hotel, and was again not disappointed. Although it had been a couple of years since my last visit, the excellent and friendly reception staff remembered that I had stayed there before, and it was like a "home away from home".Service in all departments was terrific, location terrific, walking distance to a lot of places including the Grand Bazaar, and why would you want to stay away from this area and attempt to go everywhere by taxi, when traffic is the way it is in Istanbul. Walking is by far the best way to get around.
This hotel goes out of its way to make travellers feel at home with small things such as complementary Turkish Delights in the rooms and a gift tin of chocolates at check out.
For a good hotel at a reasonable price, I recommend the Eresin Crown, and I will be staying there again on my next visit to Istanbul

If you don't fancy taxi rides in Istanbul traffic stay here. Mhemet, the front desk manager, was extremely helpful as was all his staff. We had 2 stays with 4 days between and Eresin Crown safely stored our 2 suitcases at no charge. The bell man was courteous and prompt and always had a smile. Breakfast buffet was a treat. Not only was the food excellent and the choices varied but the view from the roof terrace is amazing. You can walk to Topkapi, Ayasofia, The Blue Mosque and the Archeological Museum in less than 15 minutes. There are several restaurants in the area that were good. There is even a gift shop on the left corner (face the hotel and walk to your left) whose owner was scrupulously honest and has lovely things for sale. I will review the 2 restaurants next week so look for my reviews..

Room Tip: rooms are European style small but bathroom is roomy.

I just returned from a four night stay at the Eresin Crown in Sultanahmet. I loved this hotel! The location was amazing! Just minutes on foot to the Blue Mosque, the Basilik Cisterns, Aghia Sophia and more. The staff were very professional and friendly, my room was spacious and very comfortable and clean, and the breakfast was excellent. I will definitely stay again if/when I return to this amazing city!

Room Tip: My room was facing the street so with the doors to the balcony open, it could be a little noisy, so...

Most of the comment on this site are true. It is a nice little hotel with a great location. The rooms are clean and the service is indeed good. However, it is very small and dated. If the Four Seasons is a five star, this can be no higher than a three. Honestly, if a "two" on this site were not labeled as "poor" I might have gave it that rating. However, it is not poor, but it certainly not higher than average. The rooms are very small and cramped and two persons will find themselves stepping over each other mosh of the time. Our luggage, a 20 inch wheelie would not fit in the closet. I have found the rating on this site pretty good in the past, but this time it has mislead me.

Dear David,
Thank you very much for your comments. I am so sorry that you were disappointed with your stay at Eresin Crown but I would like to correct something about our hotel rating that you confused. Our hotel is registered as a Special Deluxe Category Hotel by Turkish Tourism Ministry office. It means that it is something so unique and different than other hotels in the city. Eresin Crown is the first and only registered museum hotel in all over Turkey. Turkey’s only Boutique Museum hotel, located in the heart of the city next to Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque and Topkapi Palace. Overlooking the Princes Island and Marmara Sea. Surrounded by the history and architectural masterpieces of Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman times. Istanbul’s fascinating past combines with present-day comfort, only at Eresin Crown. 49 various historical art pieces from the Roman, Hellenistic and Byzantine time including a cistern and a mosaic were found during the construction phase of the hotel " aged from 2. - 3. B.C. to 5. - 6. A. D. centuries'' and all monuments are exhibited in the hotel .A private picture gallery of 168 paintings on the theme of Byzantine and Ottoman life decorate the walls of the Eresin Crown Hotel. A beautiful collection of Iznik porcelain is displayed with Eresin Crown's fascinating finds. Examples of Ottoman Iznik hand crafted porcelains are exact copies of originals dating from 1400-1500 AD.
We are offering to our valued guests to stay at a hotel, where past meets with present.
So I am so sorry that we couldn't meet with your expectations but it is our fault that we couldn't make our self very clear about what kind of hotel we are offering our valued guests. If you would like to stay at a modern building hotel with bigger rooms and many facilities in it than we will be happy to offer you our Eresin Taxim Premier Hotel which is totally different than Eresin Crown and could make you more happier. We really would like to see you at our other Eresin Hotels in the near future in Istanbul to make your next stay enjoyable one.
Best regards,
