“Fantastic view! but somewhat dangerous stairs..”
Reviewed 21 July 2014

The view from the top is uncomparable!..but if you have acrophobia you should be careful. Staircases to the top are quite narrow and the wind is strong. Still, defenitly worth a visit!

“Nice place to admire Bosphorus”
Reviewed 12 July 2014

This is one of the two twin fortresses that were user to protect Istanbul from the Asian and European parts of the Bosphorus. Rumeli Hisari is the one on the European side. You can see a beautiful and historical construction and you can also admire amazing views of the Bosphorus.

“Let your inner child take over...”
Reviewed 7 July 2014

I love Rumeli's Fortress and have been there five times!! I've led groups of students on four of these visits, and students love climbing on the walls throughout the fortress.

Let your inner child take over as you climb steep stairs to get to the top of ancient walls. But beware if you're afraid of heights, there are no guardrails anywhere!! If you're adventurous, you will love standing on the edge of a wall with a 70 foot drop off.

And finally, the views of the Bosphorus are truly incredible from the top of the walls.

Traveler tip...Skip the typical Bosphorus cruise and hire a private boat to take you directly to the fortress, wait an hour for you to explore, then take you back to the harbor. You can find private boats to the left of the Golden Horn bridge past the typical tour area and a large parking area.

“Beautiful views”
Reviewed 4 July 2014

This is a great place to explore. If you have the nerve to climb the stairs (no rails), the views are spectacular. It can get very hot, so stay hydrated.
