“Room 309 has an amazing view of the bosporus and topkapi palace's courtyard”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 January 2013

Very good hotel. Staff is excellent. Breakfast was amazing. Same menu every day but superb nonetheless. Murad was the host. Very helpful guy who genuinely cares about his guests. Very homely feel. They provided us free apple tea every evening when we got home. Asked us how the day went and what we saw. Location is great but a little away from the rest of the hotels - but the location was closer to the major attractions than the other hotels. Room 107 was small but we got moved.

Room Tip: 309 is an amazing room

We stayed in Valide Sultan for 3 nights on our way back from India and had a wonderful stay there. Its a family owned joint and all the staff there are pretty friendly. The airport pickup was waiting for us when we exited customs and we're @ the hotel in abt 20 mins. Serkan (the manager) did our checkin and recommended a couple of day tours and arranged the bookings for us. The room was decently sized and we had a good view of Hagia Sophia. We're usually the first ones @ breakfast in the rooftop patio which had amazing views of Hagia Sophia and the Bosphorus Strait. Location was great as the hotel is within a 5 minute walking distance of the 3 main attractions (Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace and Hagia Sophia) and about 15 minutes from Grand Bazaar. All in all, we had a 5 star stay at the hotel and would highly recommend it.

My husband and I stayed at the Valide Sultan in the first week of November 2012 (it was one of two hotels we had selected to stay in while on our Honeymoon in Istanbul). The biggest positive in staying in this hotel is that you are literally a stone's throw away from the Topkapi Palace, the Aya Sofya (we had a fantastic view of this beautiful monument from our room on the third floor), the Blue Mosque and the rest of Sultanhamet. Apart from this, we thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast which was served every morning on the hotel's terrace. The food was yummy, the options were plenty, and the views were to-die-for (the Aya Sofia to one side, and the Marmara Sea to the other).
The rooms are a bit on the smaller side, but they're cosy, comfortable, sound proof and warm.

Serkan at the reception was always helpful and had a great sense of humour. He was always present with a warm greeting, or with friendly advice on how best to plan our day. Lastly, unlike what alot of fellow travelers may say, the staff at the Valide Sultan was not pushy when it came to selling pre-designed day tours.

If there was a negative, it was only on one of the days of our stay here when I fell sick and had a fever (I was bedridden for most of the day) because of which my husband got me some soup from a nearby restaurant. The hotel owner, who happened to be present in the lobby at that time, raised an objection to food being brought from outside but settled down eventually and allowed us to eat on the terrace (take-away food was not allowed in our room). However with the exception of this one incident, we had a great time and a memorable stay.

I stayed very recently at the hotel, and we stayed there because of its good rating and good prices but would go back because of its very friendly and helpful staff. Great location in Sultanahmet area as well. And we didn't mind the fantastic views at breakfast either!

We were a party of 3 having 2 rooms and loved our stay here. The rooms are small, but since the hotel is so marvelously located we were mostly out and about. The size of the rooms is compensated by the lovely outdoor patio, where we rested amid the roses between excursions and sipped delightful cay elma. The staff were wonderful. Special thanks to Bunyamin, Ramazan, Mahmud and young Benjamin at breakfast.
We loved it so much that we came back to bid goodbye and had our final supper on the delightful Terrace, with its view of the Aya Sofia. We hope to come back.

We really enjoyed our time at the Hotel Valide Sultan Konagi. Great location, helpful staff, comfortable and clean rooms - no complaints, really!

The breakfast buffet is very yummy as well with all kinds of Turkish delights. Rambo, the server at the restaurant deserves a special mention. He was very kind and helpful - a real stand out employee!

If you're looking for a middle of the road priced hotel, I'd definitely recommend this spot!

This was the first of 8 hotels we stayed at in Turkey, and no other place had as fine a breakfast as Valide Sultan Konagi offered in its impressive rooftop restaurant. Staff were courteous and helpful in every way.
The rooms are indeed very small, but they are clean and furnished nicely.
While the hotel is at a very busy spot during daytime hours -- yes, loads and loads of tour buses -- the nights were pleasantly and surprisingly quiet. It's location also makes it fairly easy to find on foot in an otherwise labyrinth-like city.

Room Tip: If you will be staying several days ask about a larger room.
