The hotel is cosy and has a beautiful restaurant located on the top floor which offers a breathtaking view of istanbul which I think is the hotels best feature: having breakfast while watching the sunrise over the Bosphorus was amazing.
It's a short uphill walk to Taksim Square and maybe the only flaw is that the English level of the employees is not really great.
The rooms are clean and comfortable.

I was staying there with my parents for a long weekend over Easter. Pretty basic, dated but clean. Staff appear to be rude but that's Istanbul for you. The biggest con was the noise from the restaurant coming from the floor above our room. We couldn't sleep as people were moving chairs, talking loud, etc. It was horrible and they should definitely not have rooms under a restaurant. Location was nice but wouldn't recommend staying there. Look somewhere else!

The Hotel Villa Zurich is located in a quiet, residential area Cihangir, an area where you'll find famous local and national artists and musicians.
Centrally located, only 10 minutes walking distance from Taxim Square and the Galata bridge.
A nice and friendly welcome at the small reception, going to any of the 6 floors, where you'll find decent and spacious rooms. The quality of the beds is fair, not excelllent, spacious bath room, mini bar, flat screen TV, telephone, safe, working desk and my rooms (stayed in 2 different rooms) both had a small balcony.
All baths in the rooms are jacuzzi (older versions), but functional,

There's a (locally famous) rooftop restaurant, serving only fish, but very tasteful and affordable. Panoramic view on the Bosphorus/Golden Horn. The breakfast buffet is more than average for a 3* hotel.
On the ground floor, there's a nice café/bar (Café Meyra), where you can enjoy a drink and simple but fair dishes. Several times a week there's live music.
I can recommend the hotel for both corporate and leisure travellers; fair quality at an affordable price. One of the better hotels in Cihangir.

Room Tip: Corner rooms are the better ones. Don't take the XX1 rooms, as they have noisy air conditioning...

With the exception of the waiter in the breakfast room, the staff at this hotel were appalling - no manners, inappropriate attitude, pushy, rude behavior, in one case even seedy. They try to rip off foreigners by applying some sort of phantasy exchange rate to € and $, when artificially inflating pre-booked rates. The location is nice, but I have no intention of returning to this once good hotel which is a sorry state after a change of owner. Very unpleasant indeed!

Room Tip: The only tip I have for other travelers is to find a different place of accommodation!

I've read the other recent reviews and can empathise! I also saw the fire extinguishers holding open the doors and I would not call the lobby furnishing "antiques". Staff attitude with the excecption of one waiter at breakfast was awful - so rude and bordering on suspicious, and everyone smoking. But to their credit they let me have breakfast when I arrived very early and my room was not ready and stored my bags safely for me. They also did not charge for a bottle of water from the mini bar when I checked out. The view at breakfast over the Bosphourous and towards Seraglio Point, Topkapi Palace, Aya Sofia and Blue Mosque makes it all worthwhile and I thought the breakfast was fine - yoghurts, omelette, fresh tomatoes and vegetables, variety of breads etc and the nice waiter gave me Turkish coffee for free. Aanother bonus is the great bar right next door, I don't know if it's part of the hotel but it had a great atmosphere and DJ, good bar food and there are other great eating spots including a lovely organic cafe 2 or 3 doors down. Walking distance to Taksim and Galata can't be faulted either. Overall value for money and a pleasant enough stay but would I go back? Onlyif the staff improve.

This hotel used to be fab but the owners have changed since I last stayed and it's now run like a village pension. The room was great- very comfortable and spacious. The corridors are shabby, stained carpet, fire extinguishers hold doors open on each floor. The staff are abrupt, unsophisticated and ignorant of international hotel standards/guest relations. The night desk clerk and the porter being the only exceptions.
The breakfast was appalling. White bread with mystery cold meats and olives, instant coffee and sour faced women in drab kitchen wear. No fruit, yoghurt or anything I could consume. They also pack up 20 minutes before breakfast supposedly stops.
I booked online and prepaid to avoid exchange rate problems. The location is ideal and the rooms comfortable- ignore the rough staff and have breakfast next door at Kahvedan ( who DO cater for foreigners with real coffee, pancakes, eggs and bacon etc) and look on-line for a discounted rate, then it could be worthwhile staying here.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor to get a view or a room facing the front.
