Hotel Kybele cannot be beaten on location and service.
It puts you bang in the middle of Sultanahmet, a minute or two from the key sights - Ayia Sofia, Blue Mosque, Yerebatan cisterns, Sultanahmet Square and only another ten minutes by foot to the Grand Bazaar and the Spice (Egyptian) Bazaar. Taksim is about 45 minutes by foot, across the Galata Bridge. Good for walking off greedy dinners.

The hotel owners went out of their way to make us feel welcome, making dinner reservations for us, giving us tips about getting around and going the extra mile for us. Their taxi service to and from the airport is a must. He was the only taxi driver we met who wore a seat belt and stuck to the speed limit.

Breakfast is perfectly nice - hot and cold options, turkish tea or coffee. There is a very sweet little terrace at the back of the hotel, a sun trap painted all the jewel colours you can imagine, and we stopped there for lunch and for cold drinks on different occasions. It's a great hideaway from the chaos of Sultanahmet Square.

All was fine with our room. Wish we could have cranked the air con up, but it kept us cool enough.

Thanks again Hotel Kybele. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you.

We stayed seven nights in this terrific hotel. Firstly it is extremely well situated in the old city which meant we could walk to so many places. The staff were all very friendly and most helpful, including taking my husband's shoes to be repaired and giving us a wake up call (without our asking) on our last morning when we had to leave early for the airport. They also surprised me witha birthday present! The breakfast was very good each morning and the restaurant (in a little rooftop garden) offered a wide choice of tasty dinner meals (and they were very happy to adapt meals and make our requested cocktails). Everything worked well in our room (including the air-conditioning for which we were grateful as it was a hot week), which was a haven to return to each night (and for some peaceful afternoon naps). It was street facing but completely quiet and we never tired of the myriad of lights on our ceiling. Minor issues for some may be that the bathroom was very small (but entirely functional) and there is no lift. Overall we loved staying here and would certainly do so again.

Room Tip: Our room, 501, which was a triple room, was excellent and completely quiet despite being street faci...

We booked this hotel largely on the positive recommendations on Trip Advisor. The hotel is charming and well located. The rooms are VERY small. The bathrooms need updating (shower was old and couldn't be adjusted, very slow draining tub). The service may be ok for Istanbul (I don't have enough other data points) but it wasn't great. It felt like most of the staff was going through the motions without much effort to make guests feel welcome or happy. We ordered a bottle of wine at dinner, the waiter brought the wrong wine, then insisted it was what we ordered (even though he hadn't opened it yet). The breakfast was ok (not as good as what we had at most other hotels in Turkey) and, while they have a lovely back garden, for some unexplained reason they made it very clear that they didn't allow you to eat breakfast at the outdoor tables. There just didn't seem to be much effort by the staff to create a positive experience.

Room Tip: The second floor rooms were quite small but our friends on the third floor had a bigger room (though...

Our dear Guests,

Thank you very much for your kind comment on our hotel. As this is an old building we can not do anything with the room sizes but we will check the other points that you indicated. Your thoughts are important for us.

We stayed here initially for two nights but we liked it so much, we decided on one more. The staff are all very helpful and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. It is located right near to the tram (far enough not to hear it Incase that puts anyone off) and some of the main attractions, so easy to get around. Each room has a ceiling teaming with Turkish lights; it's so quirky! All bedroom windows have mosquito nets and there is air con too. There is a lot of choice for breakfast and the food in the evening was good (I had sea bream) but the lamb was a bit chewy but overall, If you like something a bit different, quirky and happy this is the place to spend a few nights in a great location. Highly recommend it

Room Tip: The small rooms really are small but still have charm

Stayed for 4 nights in this quaint, quirky, colourful hotel, which is ideally situated for the main tourist attractions of Istanbul.
Our room was lovely with antique Turkish lights hanging from the ceiling, giving an amazing effect and we had the added bonus of a balcony, overlooking the street with great views beyond.
The staff were friendly, helpful, nothing seemed too much trouble for them and they made our stay so enjoyable.
The food was excellent, breakfast buffet style and dinner in the upstairs courtyard is to be recommended.
Would certainly stay here again.

Room Tip: Pay extra for room 402

The Kybele is a very charming hotel with an even more charming staff. I stayed at the Kybele for the first time this May/June and was welcomed with open arms. Just the first night I felt like family. The rooms are small but cute and the entire hotel is covered in colorful lamps. The staff does their best to communicate with you despite your native language and are always willing to help in any way possible. Would definitely stay again.
