“best location for Takksim square”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 June 2012

The hotel's location near Taksim and Istiklal Cadessi is the strongest point. The evening staff is more friendly and knowledgeable. Beware-there are different types of bathrooms. I one I got was tiny! While I had no view so to speak, it was not as noisy as the street facing rooms. The star rating must be a joke. If you are going to the airport via Havatas buses, you can walk to the bus depot off Taksim.

Room Tip: Inspect the rooms if you have a choice before you check in.

The location just off Taxsim square was great for catching the tram to the old city and the top of the pedestrian street down to a funicular. Convenience stores, markets and fast food are plentyful.

There was traffic and music noise on the street until 4 am but I was too tired to be kept up.

The room was nicely furnished and comfortable.

I would consider staying here again but decided to stay in the old city at the end of the trip to have better access to sites downtown.

Room Tip: the room on the street is noisy.

This hotel is not a 4*, to begin with. It is a 3* hotel, that is dated and old. It has not been preserved well (with the exception of the reception are, which apparently is the "mirror" of the hotel and must be good-looking), flaking walls, old furniture, curtain with a hole, bathroom with broken tiles.... and a lot more. Also, VERY NOISY ( my room was on the 5fth floor facing the road and all night-Wednesday night btw- I was hearing the music from a nearby club). Breakfast very poor, but at least tasty. TV old (huge box!!) and full of "snow".
Most importantly, it is not clean enough!! I had read other reviews before I booked which talked about a clean hotel and so I decided to stay! Although the room generally was clean, I FOUND 5 DIFFERENT TYPES OF HAIR IN MY BED (below the pillow, on the sheet, on the covers)..... Needless to say, I slept with my clothes!!!!!! Also not confortable bed!
The pros are the location (a stone's throw from Istiklal and Taksim), friendly staff willing to help (I had booked a small single room and they updated me to a triple room because I wanted to check in earlier).

Satisfactory hotel for those wanting to be a stone's throw from Taksim square without paying a premium for the great location.

Room Tip: Street facing very noisy

I don't generally fill in Trip Advisor reviews but frankly such a lot of rubbish has been said about this hotel that I felt I had to. True it probably wasn't a 4 star hotel and there are many proper 4 star hotels in the area, but which are considerably more expensive.

That being said it had

a decent sized room with air conditioning
a decent sized bathroom with powerful shower (despite being on the 6th floor)
ample breakfast
a room safe
a mini bar at reasonable prices (£1 for a beer, 30p for small bottle of water)
comfortable beds
a desk and free WiFi
perfectly pleasant and polite reception staff who spoke English
the ability to get food and drinks 24 hours

My colleague found his street facing room a bit noisy but mine at the back was quiet. True it had no view but I didn't go to Istanbul for the view from the hotel room.

All in it was a perfectly fine hotel at a fair price in a very convenient area.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back will be quieter

We just stayed 3 nights at this older, but well kept hotel. It was located in the Taxsim area,so we had a ball walking around that area. It was also very close to the tram, cable car and metro, so we could get anywhere in Istanbul easily. We did not want to stay in the more " touristy" area of Sultanamet.. And we were so happy with our choice.
We found the employees very nice and helpful and the free breakfast was very nice.
